Gonna start reposting old clips from the Youtube days. These are from a old version of the movie, so expect some fx or audio issues. These problems are taken care of now
Clip 1 - Kill Em All
Clip 2 - Anakin vs Obi
Good to see these up once again.
It's great that there's so many improved variations of the Prequels being released and upcoming at the moment...despite the thought of having to re-watch these movies over and over until I find my favourite edits amongst them!
Especially looking forward to what this one has in store eventually though. :)

Making the prequels watchable, one frame at a timeAnother clip. This is the first draft of the Dooku door shot. This helps to remove the bad CGI jump from the upper level.
The first shot of the door needs to be adjusted (it's way to small) to match the second 2 shots. Also Im going to slow that shot down alittle more so that Dooku is on screen for the first time alittle longer. It's a bit too quick right now.
On the second shot of Dooku walking up, the door will close behind him.
This clip also contains recoloring of the walls and added audio. I also slowed down alot of Palpatine's lines, to better show his guiding Anakin down the path of the Dark Side.

I"m surprised how effective that really works. The "now" line is definitely awesome!

This is a wonderful video.
I finally get to see your added door! And it works really well. *Considering stealing almost everything you've done*
Have you altered/added sounds at the beginning? The outside battle seems to sound more... clear. I like it. Seems to really enhance the silence of the scene.

That door works really, really well. I can not say enough that the removal of that flip is essential in reducing the goof-ballery of this movie!
Question slash suggestion: have you given any thought to removing the line "I shouldn't have done that, it's not the Jedi way,"?
You could cut directly from "But he was an unarmed prisoner," to "It's only natural-- he took your arm..."
Pardon me if I'm stepping on your toes! Just a curiosity!

Hi Bob. Your fan edit previews looks great. Can't wait to see the final product.
Just a thought:
Instead of the "Good, Anakin. Good", would it be more effective if after Anakin defeats Dooku, Palpatine immediately says to Anakin, "Kill him", and when Anakin hesitates he says "Now." then Anakin decapitates Dooku?

Making the prequels watchable, one frame at a timeStill working on it. Had alot of rendering issues for quite awhile that was keeping me from moving forward. The video would stutter on alot of the fx shots I did.
Thats all been taken care of. I'll post another update soon.

Making the prequels watchable, one frame at a timeA few changes to the opening Duel. FX still need to be cleaned up.
Grievous voice has still not been dubbed in. Having issues settling on his final voice FX.
Added back in Palpatines chair not spinning. Just noticed a funny shadow got left in from the chair. That will be fixed
Color change to the control panels on the bridge to a red orange layout instead of the original neon green. Was gonna be white but that result is becoming way too colorless.

All looks good.
I didn't hear you mention it, but do you plan to remove the shadow that's cast from Obi-Wan's lightsaber blade? Always bugged me.

Lovely work! I especially like the red bridge. (Though I would make the lights on the floor white)
Can you explain how you did this, though? I've had a lot of trouble changing the color of the screens.

What is it with Ricks? The only criticism I have of the clip is that Dooku when he walks out of that open doorway has clearly been slowed down significantly. Also I don't think the shot immediately after (where he ignites his saber) looks right in comparison to his pose just before. Don't know if this is avoidable or not as I don't remember how it played in the original or whether you've roto'd him in from somewhere else over a clean background plate at any point. I know there must've been a reason for slowing him down to draw out the drawing of his saber by as much as you needed but nevertheless it was pretty obvious to my eye.
Also, wasn't there an early test you did of the door closing behind him? Are you planning to implement this?

Lightsabers have always cast shadows, just check the OT. Lightsaber blades aren't actually made of light and light emitting objects (glow sticks, florescent tubes) cast shadows.

Where in the movies have they said that the blades aren't light?
They may very well cast shadows in the OT but I don't recall where, and regardless I view it as an error. It's a lightsaber and I've always gathered that it was the same matter as a bolt of lightning, just that the device grants control over it.

What is it with Ricks?I agree that they probably shouldn't cast shadows and I think any explanations there have been to explain that they aren't actually made of light were only invented to make up for the "error" which was caused by the limitations of filming in the late 70's.
The glowsticks comparison doesn't really cut it as these are physical objects that happen to have light produced inside of them. The lightsaber blade is not really a physical object but rather a beam of energy. Last I heard, a laser doesn't cast a shadow and that's what a lightsaber was originally called - a "laser sword"
Whether it's practical to remove them, I don't know. Adywan is ridiculously extensive in his fixing of errors, but as far as I remember, he didn't remove the shadows.

I'm sure it was the limitations of the day, but for it to happen in the prequels is a testament to the laziness of Lucas. The man has the best stuff, and he just slaps it all together. Lucas needs to be a hungry filmmaker again.

Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick.Lightsaber blades have mass, they collide with each other and other objects. They're also solid which would block out the light from another source thereby creating a shadow.

If you're going to go in the direction, then why do the lasers in the lightsabers stop at a point? My point is the shadow casting is like seeing the wizard behind the curtain. Takes away the magic of the moment. I'm just trying to remove seams from a dress so it looks better, and you try to educate me on the scientific facts of a LIGHTSABER. (Sarcasm turned to the ON position in that last sentence.)

Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick.Within the films, it is consistent for them to cast shadows. They cast shadows throughout the OT. To remove the shadows in only one film would be an inconsistency.
Outside of that, they're clearly solid. You can never see through a lightsaber blade at any point in any of the films. An object casting light isn't going to create a shadow of itself. However, if you had a second light source being cast on the object it would create a shadow because it's blocking out the light from the second source.
