This is excellent news. It's been too long since the last behind-the-scenes compilation of Episode IV. Can't wait to watch yours and then meticulously delete every memory of any previous STAR WARS docs. And then in 5 years I can make my own documentary edit that destroys your trash.

This is the best new thread on this site for sooo many reasons. I'm enjoying every minute since the opening salvo in post 1.

Surely what is being suggested here isn't a fan-edit of any of the Star Wars films, television shows or the like so it should be in perversasions and other projects??

(I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here and assuming this isn't a wind-up)

You mention that your project is a "new" documentary? Do you mean that it's a new edit of pre-existing material (from your list of sources) or are you creating entirely new material that you will incorporate too? If so, it would be quite interesting to read about how you're going about doing this. Is your research based online or have you made/are you planning any trips?

The thing I find interesting is that you claim that this will be the greatest documentary on SW ever, yet you don't have editing software and you've never done a fanedit, so all we have is you flapping your lips. Can you give us some samples of your work to back up your claims?

RE: STAR WARS: behind the eye

It certainly could be a great documentary.  But you provide little insight into your plans, show little promise because you are asking for pirated editing software, and your wording is insulting to very high quality existing documentaries.  I doubt you could match them simply because you have more resources.  But that doesn't mean it can't be done.  Just if you plan on doing it, try not to boast about your abilities that you've yet to demonstrate while simultaneously putting down others' excellent work.

The ROTJ collaborative thread is a wealth of ideas, both on how to edit Return of the Jedi, as well as how to collaborate in an edit.  Emanswfan has taken leadership of the project.

Password for all ROTJ-related clips: ROTJ

A very rough edit of how the Battle of Endor could go
A very rough idea of how ROTJ could end

Rough edit based on the final script with some deviation:

Part 1  Part 2  Part 3  Part 4

What does behind the eye even mean, Macula (or is that Mooku)?

What does it mean!?  That doesn't matter!  What matters is if it sounds cool!

What I'm really hoping for is a Star War Holiday Special at 4k projected in some Texas town.  I'd be willing to sell all my Star Wars stuff for $ to see that one!

Unfortunately, you invited those negative comments by failing to conform to the norms of this community.

To understand what I mean, read post #62 of this thread very carefully.

FWIW, I made a similar mistake in Off Topic once and I learned my lesson. My advice to you (if you plan to stick around, that is) is to man-up and move on.

I submit that post #2 is the most important one in this thread.

This is all true but I guess I will still try to look for the alternate narration for the making of Star Wars

As is said above, take your lumps and bumps and move on, don't let anyone stop you. If it's something you still believe in, go right ahead with your project. But in future if you want your project received with more warmth... instead of making your first post like this:

cain spaans said:

STAR WARS: behind the eye is a new fan documentary that I want to make that will end all the other fan documentary's such as deleted magic building empire and returning to jedi this is one out of three documentary's containing footage from official documentary's deleted scenes and other material

...I'd suggest something more like this...

'STAR WARS: BEHIND THE EYE' is a new fan documentary that I want to make.

The fantastic work by editors such as Jamie Benning on projects like 'Building empire' and 'Returning To Jedi' has inspired me to do something similar. This edit will be incorporating some of the latest footage not available when those projects were compiled and where possible will be in glorious HD!

This will be the first FanEdit I've attempted so I'd appreciate everyone's advice on what is the best software to use. Also if you can suggest footage and ideas that would be fantastic!

More deatils to follow Star Wars fans!

Sounds better right? Some basic formatting would've hepled for a start, rather than a spew of lowercase words. Either that or hire a PR management team ;-)
