I'm sorry, but this isn't a preservation. Ady doesn't need to go with the original colors. He can go with whatever colors he wants. This is his fan-edit.
If he did with ANH, he should do so in ESB, or redo ANH, and not do so in ESB...

Um, dude, I said that. I also understand it isn't a restoration. I was however, pointing out that from the Grey vs. Blue argument point of view that it is hard to determine what color(s) to use as there is no "pure" source.
I also stated multiple times that it was Ady's edit and I have faith in his coloration choices on it.
(how is it that I went from thinking Grev vs. blue arguments were stupid and now I am fully involved in one. What a hypocrite I am. Oh well, all is fair in love and Star Wars I guess...)

To clarify, I wasn't talking to anyone in particular, I was just making a general statement.

...but the grey ties just look more realistic to my eyes.

Description: The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was widely regarded as the best carrier based fighter of WWII.
I love it that this debate is started up again (here I was going to thank Adywan for going with blue).
I remember wondering if the Death Star TIEs are supposed to be the "norm" or the Death Squadron TIEs are supposed to be the norm. We had no real way of knowing, except that the EU (except for some of the early toys and comics) stuck with gray after the movies.
You could look at it this way:
1) The TIE fighters associated with the Death Star are gray, further emphasizing the cold, gray terror of that station (and yes, Vader's TIE is among them... what you, think he flew over on that thing? He obviously would have come on a shuttle).
2) Once the station is destroyed and Vader begins his rise up the Imperial ranks, he gets the infamous Death Squadron, Executor, etc. together to search for Skywalker. Blue TIEs to go with his blue/purple Super Star Destroyer, and of course the new Interceptors and bombers that were blue as well.
The rest of the TIEs in the galaxy are, of course, caution orange.

Anyway, 2020 is a long ways away, so we don't have to get all bent out of shape over this.
Edit: Teasing, of course (reads the blog and gets caught up on what's been happening over the last few months).

I'm totally fine with grey TIES, and blue interceptors and bombers. That seems like an awesome compromise to me. Everyone quit whining. There are worse things in the world.

What is it with Ricks?I think finding a balance between the grey and blue is key and then sticking to that through the whole trilogy. I don't think there's any point making distinctions between Death Star squadron and Executor squadron, etc. though they are neat ideas to explain the difference.
I'm confident they'll end up looking great. Not too blue, not too washed out.
The right amount of blue for me is so it has that 'cold' metal look, not the Kenner/Hasbro toy look.

FINALLY! I was surprised that wasn't posted immediately.
I can see the different squadrons= different colors thing I suppose. Still though, I just don't think the models look as convincing blue as grey

I guess that we all have to wait and see what Adywan has done. I love ANH revisited, it reminded me how great these movies really are... I have bought the bluray edition and I was not impressed... ANH:Revisited is the best edition on the market and I have no doughts that ESB:Revisited willl be the same. "If you don´t like it, make your own edit"...

Just to be clear, ANH:R is NOT "on the market".....its a free download and we ask that you have the official blu-ray version before downloading.

I apologize for my bad choices of words, I own all 6 movies on bluray and you are right, It´s the best edition on the internet. :)

Token Linguistics NerdJust to be clearer, the OT.com policy is that you need to own legally the retail version from which the fanedit was sourced. So, to download ANH:R, you don't necessarily need to own the Blu-ray; owning the DVD version will do. However, once ESB:R is released, you will need to own the Blu-ray of ESB in order to download it (since it's Blu-ray sourced, unlike ANH:R in its current state).

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityRepeating this, because it needs to be repeated. I'm sure the Blu-rays will start cropping up used for a decent price soon. I got mine from a going-out-of-business Blockbuster Video for $10 a movie. Unfortunately, they didn't have ANH, so I'm still on the lookout for it.Akwat Kbrana said:

Well, my 27" tube/SD Tv just dies recently so, will be upgrading to a 32" LED/LCD TV and a blu-ray player. Perfect excuse to buy some Star Wars too...

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityI assure you, strangely-pessimistic-for-such-a-specific-screenname, things are proceeding just fine. Ady is building the models he feels need to be built and 3rd unit is about to get some quick shots done while 2nd I think is getting some additional shots as well.ANH-RevisitedFan said:

Yay! Way to be optimistic.
Nice first post, by the way.

This is my first post too but I'm nice so I'll say hello first. So, hello nice to meet you all.
Now, I was wondering if you'd give me your opinions about the communication holograms. In ANHR Leia's hologram looks (to my eyes at least) completely blue in long shots but with flashes of normal colour across her face in close up. The same happens with Luke's in ROTJ save the one shot of his back that appears to be fully blue. But from what I've seen of the new Emperor hologram from TESBR it looks as though Ady has made him completely blue just as Lucasfilm did when Ian McDiarmid re-shot the scene in 2003. So with every single hologram in the PT appearing to be fully blue my question is this: Is there an official scheme Ady is using for holograms in the revisited saga, will PT holgrams be altered to match the OT or vice versa?
I've got to say that I quite prefer the PT holograms but what do the rest of you folks think?

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityFor every question like this, there is only one answer: if its a choice between making the OT match the PT or the PT match the OT, the Prequels will be modified to match the Originals, as it should be.Dark_Lord_of_the_Pith said:
