battle

A lot of the soldiers running away from the AT-ATs have been copy pasted, they keep doing the same things like: turning and looking at the AT-ATs.

It's not an easy thing to notice perhaps...but there are 3 or 4 troopers in the background doing the same exact thing 1 after 1..goes pretty fast though. can ya see it Angel? or anyone?

I mentioned this last year sometime...don't know if this will be dealt with or not...

Although it may look like some copy & pasted troopers, they are all in fact different troopers. There are subtle differences in their movements and angles. What i don't like about this shot is the "Vaseline" effect on the troopers.  The ESB:R second unit is will be re-filming the troopers for this and a couple of other shots in February in the US. We have a production meeting this saturday and i have to finish some of the costume pieces and props and get them set to the US in time for filming to begin.

This has probably already been answered, but will there be a Blu-Ray release for ESB:R since it's being edited in 720p? If so, is there anyone at this site who can burn Blu-Ray discs in exchange for donations/reimbursement?

No, there will only be a AVCHD release for the 720p version. Most blu-ray players will play ACHD's. I dont have a blu-ray burner so i wouldn't be able to test out the blu-ray if i made a blu-ray version.

A motion test to see if Han and Chewie could be resized to improve the scale of the Falcon.

Very well done Jaitea. I'm not going to be doing anything to the scaling issues though. If i changed that one shot then i would have to change every other shot where we see the Falcon studio set, which is too many to even think about.

The scaling looks perfect, too bad Ady wants nothing to do with it. He's changed his mind before. We can only hope.

No i won't. lol

The only thing that bugs me about the Star Wars movies that I don't think anyone addressed is the lack of visible glass paneling over starship windows. Because of the compositing techniques available at the time they look more like openings than windows

The problem with adding the window reflections is when there are actors against the windows , for example captain Needa on the stardestroyer bridge when the falcon shoots over the top of the bridge, there is no information from the opposite side view of the actors that can be added for the reflections. And you certainly would see their reflections with them standing that close to the windows. I prefer to think that the ships have non-reflective material for their windows. It's just something that can't be fixed.

Also glad to hear your wife's OK Ady, although that really sucks about the car.  You mentioned you were itching to get back to ESB:R a few posts ago... is there anything holding you up (lack of money?  time?).

thanks:) She was a bit shook up at first and upset about the damage to the car, but she's fine now. The garage and insurance company are staling with fixing the car. They originally said it would be fixed in a couple of days but now they are saying it will be done by the end of next week at the earliest because they have to wait for the insurances inspectors to come out and agree with their assessment before they can do the work. Really pissed off because its affecting the wife getting to work and she's having to take time off. We even went through the insurance and had to use their approved local garage so the delay is just ridiculous.

The monitor came the other day and i have it all set up and running now. It's so f***ing amazing. Thank you, Thank you Jacen.  It's crystal clear and having the extra workspace is so helpful too. Bloody customs hit me again though, this time with a £30 import VAT charge and postalforce charged a &8 handling charge because of this. So i had to pay that before i could get it. How the hell can they justify that when it clearly stated on the import documents that it was a gift. I've started a dispute with customs over this but i didn't realise that they have recently changed their import charges ad can charge VAT even on a gift. Yet another way this bloody government is ripping off the UK residents.  So, having to pay that just so i could get the monitor has screwed up me being able to get some more of the materials i was going to get this week for the costumes extras that i need to get done this week for the US filming. So yes, lack of money is definitely still holding me up.

Spot the model differences.

yes, but replacing the smaller model would be impossible for me to track the correct camera motion to replace it with a more accurate version. The only other way to fix this would be to build a whole new frigate with a better falcon attached. Although at one point i was thinking of doing this so i could fix the near collision with the transport shot. Maybe i will, maybe i won't. But at least if i did then it will be very handy to use for ROTJ:R

And adding the sky, although a nice addition, is proving too difficult for the first interior shot of Leia looking out the window because there isn't any good tracking points to get the sky to look natural in motion, so i will be leaving the couple of shots we see the ceiling window the way they are .
