MP4 supports multiple audio too. It just isn't as capable of handling embedded subtitles.
MP4's have issues with embedded subtitles? Is that why my MP4 encodes (made with Handbrake) have VobSubs which, in Media Player Classic, are shown as cyan instead of the original white or yellow:

or else have the correct color but are squished when not fullscreen?

I would be ecstatic if someone could tell me how to fix this (without telling me to use VLC. I like MPC better.)

It's like it's quite possible that Picasso would have loved to use Photoshop for some of his paintings if it was available back then, but if you take a picture from Picasso and recreate it in Photoshop, it's not going to be the same picture and it can hardly be used to demonstrate Picasso's brush techniques.

U u uwa uwa...MPlayer doesn't handle vobsubs in mp4 correctly either. With similar failures.
If I need softsubs, I generally resort to MKV. Otherwise, I use MP4.

tbh, I would rather VobSubs were cyan than squished. Out of curiosity, what is it about the ANH:R VobSub metadata that keeps it from converting to MP4 properly?
Oh, and by the way, the reason why I use MP4s is because AppleTV's use MP4s, and I'm not interested in forcing myself to limit my options of what digital media reciever I can get in future because I chose to use an incompatible container.

Bantha Fodderany chance of someone encoding this in AVCHD so it would fit on a dual layer DVD like Adywan's ESB '97 HD release? Obviously I'd rather have it on a 25GB blu-ray but I don't have a blu-ray burner. Thanks in advance if anyone at least considers this. :)

here's some money, go see a star warCan MP4s contain audio codecs other than AAC? MKVs seem to handle anything (AC3, DTS, PCM etc.) but I've only seen MP4s using the more modern codec (and it's certainly all that Handbrake allows when encoding).

U u uwa uwa...I've seen ac3 in MP4 but I don't think it's reliable.

Just to get a little back on the content and not to focus on the envelope format (which I'm not saying isn't important), watching the last video with a little more sharpened eye there are a few things that I noticed that while are not so in-the-eye, still could be improved. I'm not trying to be nitpicking, though I know I might be being it hah. "
First of all, in the sabre duel I notice something rather strange, don't know if it might be a compression defect, but I can see at some points a double sillohuette for Luke, I think it might be something related with the mask, or just my mind messing up"

Then, jumping a little forward, at 0:27 R2's eye should be cyan but it still shows its original blue, and finally, it would polish the video if leia wouldn't blink when chewie fires his gun at 4:11, or if chewie's shot impacted on any surface in 4:25

Magister Pontifex MaximusMithrandir, I'm no expert but it's possible that it's not a compression effect but a very faint optical one.

Magister Pontifex MaximusHarmy's reconstructions are as close as we can get to remembering the trilogy as it should be.
Ady's edits are the Special Editions as the should have been.
The War Of The Stars is how Star Wars could have been (a knowingly brilliant reverse approach to what Ady has done).
So take your pick.
