I am looking to find a Region 1(or free) DVD-R Return of The Jedi edition with Alternate Ending. I'm looking for both a DVD with Ending,or a Workprint Cut with Ending edited in. If anyone has info on one of these, Please email me at TNAJason@hotmail.com. Please guys you're my only hope.

You might want to be a little more specific about what is in this "alternate ending". Are you referring to the original Sebastian Shaw scene?

Was the Millennium Falcon destruction really filmed? I've heard of the test screening w/ that scene & the audience reaction that caused them to change it, but i never knew if that was actually true or just a fan-spread rumor.

Although being the official site, its not exactly impartial, and they have been known to rewrite star wars history on occasion, as per Lucas' revisionist whims.
The only alternate(ish) ending I've seen for Jedi is a roughcut of the 1997 Special Edition changes, consisting of the original ending footage intercut with storyboards for new shots of the planets celebrating, set to what sounded like an early version of John Williams 1997 SE end celebration music. No exploding Falcons though

If I was an ILM staffer, I would have blown up an old Kenner Falcon and filmed it against a blue screen, then "leak" the footage just to drive people nuts!

I've seen footage, most likely faked. I'm pretty sure I've got it on a disk somewhere.

OK, so I found it, and it's NOT footage, it's a single picture of The Falcon engulfed in the explosion. Just goes to show how we can remember seeing things that we never really saw.

I've seen this. It is footage from a workprint of the ROTJ 1997 Special Edition. With rough computer animations and drawings, it only depicts the scenes of the other planets celebrating the fall of the empire cut into the the original ewok celebration. Really no big deal.

I believe that comes from a cutscene in one of the Rogue Squadron games, most likely 2. If you fail to outrun the explosion, that gets showed to you.

The image of the Falcon exploding comes from Robert Brown's SW Technical Commentaries site. He Photoshopped an image of the falcon from the film as a joke, but many people thought it was real, and believed that the Falcon was supposed to be destroyed at the end of ROTJ. The Official Site later debunked that rumor.

I'm not doubting what's on the official or T-bone's site, but I have seen several bootleg sellers selling a disc of "Rare Footage" claiming to have three minutes of video from a workprint showing the alternate ending.
Obviously it's fake, but what actually is this footage?
