I've a rather odd predicament. I'm attempting to edit a scene, the result of which is approximately 4 seconds shorter than the original scene. The issue is that up until now I've been able to perfectly retain the existing dvd structure by demuxing the dvd and editing the video file. Unfortunately, it would seem to me that shortening the entire film by 4 seconds would throw off the menu chapters and the subtitles. Is there a way to shorten merely a single cell of the dvd so that the following cells all correspond to the original chapter locations? I'm not exactly sure how to phrase that, so I hope it makes sense. If that isn't possible, I suppose I'll just have to rig the scene somehow to add 4 seconds back onto it. Thanks!

Jedi MasterWhat, exactly, are you editing the video in?

I demuxed the video to an ac3 audio file and a .m2v file, which I'm editing in Premiere. It's my understanding that it's possible to then remux that video file back into the dvd structure while keeping the menus. However, if the video file is a different length, I can see that causing issues, hence the initial question.
My guess is that if there is some way to modify the cell structure, it would have to be in a separate step either before or after the replacement of the new video file.

Jedi MasterTo be honest, I have no idea if a video - edited or otherwise - could be re-inserted into the original DVD structure. I would imagine that Ifoedit might make this possible. I guess it would all depend on what program you are using to re-intergrate the DVD files. I know that DVD-Lab Pro can recompile designated parts of a DVD project, so that you don't have to redo the whole thing for a few small changes, but that's a project created from scratch.
Worst case, you can try just adding those four seconds to the end of the video.

Better Grumpy than DopeyAs long as you end up with the same number of chapters, it should be possible.
Are you using Muxman & VobBlanker? If so, I imagine that the only thing you need to do is manually edit your celltimes.txt file so that all subsequent chapter points line up.

Alright, thanks Moth3r. I am indeed using that method. Curiously, is the celltimes.txt file counting video frames? And is there a way to generate one from an existing movie? Or do I need to go through and count said frames myself to make the file?
Edit: Nvmd, I'm an idiot- one demuxed with the rest of the files. Thanks!
