I am ready for the OOT!From the torrent name, this seems to be the NTSC version, but I haven't finished downloading it yet.

See, this is why I like getting stuff from Rapidshare. Yeah, it costs a few bucks a month but I don't have to wander around forums begging for people to make stuff available when I want it.

I have JD and it's made my life a lot easier. I can leave it running overnight and while I'm at work and with multiple downloads on a paid account, I can have stuff in a day or so.

Thanks for that Mr Frink, the Mac versions don't to seem to work with this wind up laptop but the Linux version will work on Chateaux Bingowings main computer.

I am ready for the OOT!I've finished downloading the torrent, and it is definitely NTSC.
However, there seems to be a problem with the aspect ratio. I cannot get the movie to display properly on my widescreen TV. I've adjusted my display settings, but the bottom of the screen is always cropped off.
Anyone else having this problem, or know how to correct it?

Originally was PAL.
Torrent file sizes match the original, so I doubt it's been re-encoded.
Looks like some fuckwit has tried jiggery-pokery on the IFO files, perhaps trying to fool his player.
Original IFO files (from Moth3r's usenet post) available here:

However, in practice you must take into account the "fuckwit factor". Just talk to Darth Mallwalker...

Didn't boon do this in NTSC,and he is famous for that tricking the player shit instead of a true conversion.

I am ready for the trials! He did do the first version (pre-Miami).
IIRC his NTSC had exactly the same running time as the PAL original, which confuses me and suggests some sort of trickery with frame rate, but at least the resolution was downsized 576->480.
That's not the case here.
This Miami torrent appears to retain the PAL VOBs untouched (I can verify that later) so replacing the IFOs with the PAL ones should do the trick--as long as one can play PAL.

OldlingI got a bit of a problem here.
I downloaded the PAL ISO from FE which came in at 5.8GB (obviously too big for a SL DVD).
Have I downloaded a DL version by mistake or is there something wrong with this ISO?
Can shrink it down a tad without making it unwatchable?
Any idea how I've screwed up (assuming that I have which usually the safest option).
+++++UPDATE+++++
It was a honest labeling error (it was the DL version) and it's been corrected now.

If you are talking about the Miami version, you would have to convert the PAL version. NTSC conversions of the original version are available at fanedit.info. I believe Jambe Davdar's original was PAL; if so, there is no chance of an NTSC version that is not a PAL conversion, if that is what you mean.

Preservation and restoration enthusiast.I got my NTSC from fanedit, and the playback is too fast. That tells me there was never a proper authoring of an NTSC, but rather a PAL conversion was done. That's a shame. I looked at Building Empire again and it doesn't seem to suffer from this, so I was just hoping it could be rectified.

No; it tells you that something went wrong somewhere. PAL conversions do not suffer from fast playback because the PAL speed up is undone as part of the conversion, or it would not really be a conversion. Something has gone wrong somewhere. Has anyone else seen the NTSC version that is posted on fanedit.info?

... no longer reads the ESB:R threadRegarding NTSC conversions, I've just had a look through this thread and I think the following summary is accurate:
Original Version
Single Layer disc by caligulathegod used original audio
Dual layer disc by caligulathegod used slowed down audio
Miami Film Festival Version
caligulathegod never finished his conversion
some fuckwit uploaded an IFO-hack-job conversion to demonoid

Perhaps that might explain why JediTray is having problems, although he says he downloaded his NTSC copy from fanedit.info, and as far as I know the Miami version was only ever PAL, so he must have the original in NTSC. Strange!
The Miami was released originally without the extras. If I have time, I will see if I can convert the original Miami to NTSC, but I do not have the time or the inclination to add all the extras in.

... Sells His TimeLooking at fanedit.info right now and here's what is available:
SL PAL (Rapidshare)
DL Miami PAL (RS)
DL Miami PAL Complete (Megaupload)
DL NTSC (RS)
If I remember correctly, "complete" means the extras are included on that Miami version.
JediTray, how long ago did you grab the NTSC version? If it's been a while, you might try re-downloading off of fanedit.info. I seem to recall that I accidentally grabbed the PAL version a while back but I can't remember why (it might have been mislabeled or not labeled at all).
