Jedi KnightBy the way, I've just figured out that the clip seen in the end credits of Empire of Dreams, of R2-D2 cleaning Luke's X-wing, is from Return of the Jedi. I thought it was from Empire, but in the establishing shot of Dagobah, you can see a wide angle of R2 doing just that!
To blur a portion of an image, you create a duplicate of the image and place it over itself. You blur one of them and crop it, with a feather around the edge.
The trailers will give you a few alternate angles, including Luke saying "Is Darth Vader my father?"

Jedi KnightMultiscreen? Sounds like a messy way to go. Rather than trying to follow the entire film shot by shot this time, compile your clips and let their rhythm dictate your work rather than letting the rhythm of the film dictate it. You can always repeat audio, use alternate audio and music, and let the sequence play out as longer or shorter depending on what you do.
Yep, your're right, it can get very messy. After some experimentation I realise that it only works on certain clips. I really want these projects to be visual commentaries, I don't want them to end up as 3 hour epics. I take your point on using the rythm of the clips and letting that dictate the flow. It's all a learning curve and I tend to speak out on what I intend to do before I actually figure out that it's a bad idea. I think I am just going to knuckle down and get on with this.

Jedi KnightTo avoid it becoming a 3 hour epic, you don't show the movie clip itself except briefly, and omit any scene you have no information on ... greatly shortening the amount of the actual movie people have to watch.
The main way to keep people's interest is to be funny. One of the funny things I was going to do in Jedi was play many of the stunts in slow motion to show people how everyone is obviously not actually hitting each other (Luke's action on the sail barge being ridiculous even in normal motion). I'm syncing Endor now and Han reacts to a punch on Endor before it hits, and then there's this jump cut as Chewie shoots a biker scout.
Terrible directing in the movie. Oh, and pointing out background aliens. The zoom function being your friend.

Jedi KnightIndeed and plenty of different c/u shots of the main stars, along with some nice alternate angles of Luke with his blue lightsaber (that is they aren't the same shot as those used in the film. They appear to be the same take though, perhaps from a B camera).

Not sure. I may point out the female in Jabba's palace and mention that she was perhaps the inspiration/validation for Zahn's character Mara Jade. I tend to stay in the official SW universe though. (correction - I mean the Film universe)

Not to start a canon debate, but Mara Jade IS in the official Star Wars universe. I suppose you were referring to the films only though.

I particularly like this idea as it gives some feel as to the retrospective nature of the project, whilst at the same time giving a nod to the title of the film being examined. I would love to hear what you think. But I must say I am very keen on it.

That would be great Sky. I tell you what might look nice on the front cover is the matte paining of the deflector dish and the night sky of Endor. Ooo the possibilities.
Would you consider offering a template for downloading with the logo and writing but with the photo area left blank? I would love to see what people could come up with.
