JEDI REMASTERRE-SCORING THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK:
THE 1980 FILM VERSION edit
The Empire Strikes Back score edited for the film is slightly different to what it is on the releases, everybody knows that. But in what is it different, what was really used and was not and for what reason ?… Hard to know with such a complex score. I always thought it was just full of simple cuts, and I was wrong.
The music has been sometime cut and faded, but also some scenes have been sometime re-scored through editing for a very efficient and enjoyable rendering of the scene.
The film version avoids repetitions of alternate segments you have put together on the entire score presented on the SE’s. Indeed, the score may appear quite heavy in its complete form compared to what you hear in the movie.
The present set has been edited from the OT Soundracks Salvage & Restoration (except for the new concert versions), and most of the volumes have been revised and so the whole of it has been now fully equilibrated from this point of view. Some tracks has been once more, but slightly, re-equalized.
… Note that what you’ll find here is not a complete score though there’s very few missing, but I guess if anyone wished to make a real complete score, there’s no doubt he’ll find here the last missing pieces to his collection !
Anyway, there’s no better experience than listening for yourself to make your own idea.

Also this set may be a good complement to the new restoration project. You can now get rid of the OT soundtracks salvage 1st version and still have these dynamic remixings at hand. A bunch of tracks sound indeed wider and more powerful than the new version if the goal is to blow your speakers ! :)

Not perfect as it was my first "true" edit but not bad, and the sound holds on all the line next to the Anthology. Otherwise check my OT Soundtrack Salvage... And bump the thread !
