Question: DVD-AUDIO (24 bit - AOB file) Playback?

Hi,

I am trying to find a way to play a DVD-Audio disc on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit PC.  The files are on a DVD-R in AOB file format contained the AUDIO_TS folder.

I do not own a stand alone DVD audio playere, but would like to play this back via my PC.

Also, is there a way to convert the AOB files to FLAC format without any quality loses?

Any help would be most appreciated.

There's not a way to playback dvd-a on pc that I know of. However I did find this tutorial on how to rip and convert with some software:

The software used does convert to FLAC, but costs about $33. There's a freeware program also mentioned but I'm not sure how well it works.

There is a program that will allow you to play DVD-Audio (AOB) on your computer. It is called Foobar. Use this link  http://www.foobar2000.org/ you will need to add a plugin, but the program will explain how to attain it. It's free and safe no spyware.

I'd also endorse foobar2000. Excellent audio player.

I 2nd foobar2000, very versatile and reliable.  It's also rather adaptable when it comes to plug-ins.

Forgot to address the second part of your question. With this program Foobar 2000 you can also convert your files on the disc from AOB to Flac, Wav, MP3 & a few more I cannot think of right now.

I use foobar daily and have this exact plugin for my few DVDAs. It works like a charm, not only does it allow playback of hi-res files, but all files on disc-even surround mixes.
