RE: Putting a face to the name

Someone should save and rehost all these pictures so when we change them back, we'll have a record of the fun we had for future generations.

Guess I make some sort of contribution here then, even though you can count my posts on your fingers and toes ;)

Cheers everybody!

Maybe you can upload them and send the links to Anchorhead and he can keep them in the first post.

Perhaps it would be proper to get permission from people previous to posting their pictures perpetually .

look at Johnny Ringo, man.  If I had to go against that guy it would be an Indiana Jones\Dovchenko event - and I'd be hoping like hell for a bunch of ants.

Yeah, I was actually thinking that too.

I've already saved as many as I could.  I was thinking of doing some sort of 'shopped image with them.  Kicking around a few ideas.

What seems most weird about all this, but actually kind of nice, is that others around here responded in kind.  I only started the thread to show how much I've changed since 1981 (a picture I had posted previously in a different thread).  It was not at all to get others to do the same, but they did anyway.  In fact, the thought never crossed my mind.

It's also been a sobering reminder of how much time has passed since I first sat in the theater in 1977.  It damn goes by in a flash, man.

I think it's cool that it got some non-off topic regulars to visit off-topic, if only briefly.

The "what's with the avatars" questions on other parts of the forum have been fun too.

I actively attest to your abundant affinity for amazing alliteration.

Yeah, me too. I'm pretty sure the feds or whoever aren't going to track down a 3-year-old or whatever I am there.

You can put mine up, too.  It's up to you whether you want to use this one or the sandwich one (which can be found in the "what have you been eating" thread).

I vote for the sandwich.  I usually do....

I think anyone who posts their picture on a public messageboard implicitly gives up any rights to control it, and I think most people recognize this, so I wouldn't be aware of offending anyone, Anch. Anyone comfortable enough to change their avatar won't care about a well-intentioned bit of fun using it.

This got me thinking...

I know I'm kind of bursting the happy-go-lucky vibe around here saying this...

But does anyone have a picture of Laserman? I feel like we need a memorial for him. I mean, we all know he's dead right? It's something that only a couple people sort of uncomfortably acknowledge. He was a huge part of OT.com history--hell, as far as I know, he came up with the term GOUT, which ironically may be his most lasting legacy. Do we have a face to go with the handle? Or a real name maybe?

"When George went back and put new creatures into the original Star Wars, I find that disturbing. It’s a revision of history. That bothers me."
