I am ready for the trials!there has been some news that the upcoming 3D BD of Predator will feature a new transfer but we'll have to wait and see in December
is there any HD transfers out there that aren't an eyesore to watch in the meantime?

The original MPEG-2 BD could certainly be improved on, but it looks all right. If you can't wait for December, buy that rather than the Ultimate Hunter Edition, which has excessive DNR.

Padawan LearnerThey both look crap. The UH version thought offers more detail even thought it's DNRed. People mistake mpeg2 compression artefacts with grain for the first issue, and this help hide the lack of detail.

well, to be fair... the old mpeg2 bd is currently the best hd release of the movie. the uh-version should be avoided unless one does prefer a perfectly waxy, erm i mean clean picture.

Exactly, the artifacting was way overblown and it at least looks like an 80's movie shot on shitty stock

Slayer of DeaditesNot having high hopes for a 3D BD. Wouldn't be surprised if it was heavily DNR'ed to improve the 3D effect. Just like Jurassic Park, unfortunately, though that wasn't DNR'ed so bad.

The 3D trailer for Jurassic Park wasn't DNR'd so bad, but the BD release was horrible!

The MPEG2 Predator, while not perfect, is perfectly watchable and better than anything else available. The audio is a lot of fun.
3D? Yikes...it's going to look like shit in 3D.

Never saw it theatrically, and I have no film print for reference. It's anyone's guess how accurate it is. It has the feel of a mid 80s action/sci-fi film though. It feels period accurate. The MPEG2 version that is...

It's times like these that I am happy to own a laserdisc machine and a copy of the movie that's getting treated like a red-headed stepchild on Bluray.

Exactly I have seen it at many shows and it always looked like the MPEGII release, if it was on a BD50 no one would care.
MPEGII gets an unfair bad rap
