Better a bad bomb than a bombadLately I've been listening to a lot of podcasts, and a wide range of topics, from politics to pro wrestling, Star Wars to medeival literature. Most of these are amatuer podcasts, and I never fault them for middling audio, but still many of them are just bad.
A few rules for the podcaster according to the Boost.
1- I don't care how much you like that song. DONT play the whole thing. No matter how clever of a transition it is, if I wanted to hear music, I wouldn't have downloaded your podcast. In fact, never play more than maybe 10 seconds of music.
2- If you're not a sports podcast, I don't care what ballgames you've been too, are planning on watching, or how your team is doing.
3- Start your content withing the first couple minutes. If you need to spend the first 8 min thanking people, mentioning other podcasts, explaining why you haven't podcasted in a while, or answering listener mail that doesn't relate to your podcast topic, I'm deleting your file.
4- If you can't be great, don't be long. 10-20 minutes of hearing people ramble on about a movie might be entertaining, but once it's going 30-50 min, if you're not extremely insightful and witty, you become boring.

Likes Lens FlairsI listen to ESPN Fantasy Focus Baseball and/or Football every day it is on, which is pretty much every weekday except for a few months (Jan/Feb) when neither sport is active. I came for the fantasy advice but stayed for the schtick, of which there is a lot.
I also occasionally listen to Bill Simmons' ESPN podcast because it touches on all sorts of subjects (like movies and tv) rather than just sports.

Just a simple man.Man. I don't even listen to podcasts.
Well, I will catch TFN's Clone Wars one now and again if it was an especially deep/interesting episode I'd like to hear discussed more.
I should get into them. I SHOULD MAKE ONE.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityI listen to FilmRot. Just two friends sitting around talking about movies and TV for a couple hours. They've been doing it off and on for five years. The conversation is always interesting, and they are interactive with their fan base if the fans are interactive with them. Heck, I'm going to be a guest on one of their episodes next month, and Jambe has been on a couple of times.
They may not have the biggest audience, but I feel they deserve it, if not for determination alone. FilmRot is the podcast I would make with my friends if I could.

Six Nine with the AfroPod-what? Is this something to do with i-Pods? Can I set it up on my mp4 player that plugs in by UBS? Will my player get heavier the more i-casts I have on there like my laptop does?

I listen to the ESPN Fantasy Focus Football as well. I usually don't listen religiously after our draft, but I do enjoy the back and forth between Nate and Matthew.

Does uploading something you offered me earlier count as listening to a podcast?
Cos you don't do that very much at all.
