Planet of the Apes Blu-Ray

I just bought the original Planet of the Apes on blu ray from Barnes and Noble along with Close Encounters of the Third Kind and a little independent film called Moon.

Does anyone else have one of these? How do you like them?

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

I like all three films but I don't have a blu-ray player.

Moon is absolutely amazing.  Duncan Jones, the writer/director, is David Bowie's son.  The Blu-Ray looks and sounds fantastic.

The Blu-Ray of CE3K looks amazing, as well, and includes all 3 versions to boot (take that, GL!).

I haven't seen Apes on BR, so I don't know how that one looks.

Sounds like you got a nice sci-fi collection there!  Three of my favorites in high def all in one go...

Yeah I have them all on DVD (CE3K and Planet Of The Apes I have a number of VHS tapes too).

As Ash says Moon is a lovely throwback to when Science Fiction films were more about mood and ideas than looks alone (though it does look good on such a small budget). It's not without flaws but you can cut it some slack.

Speaking of David Bowie, check out my avatar. Moon reminded me of some of the classic sci-fi films, I think part of it has to do with using the practical special effects.

Barnes and Noble had a buy two get one free thing going on, so I got POTA free. It's a bonus the cover doesn't give away the ending like the old DVD I had did.

It looks great. They have screenshots at blu-ray.com. There is also a good amount of bonus features.

How long is the B2G1 sale on?  In store or just online?

My outlook on life - we're all on the Hindenburg anyway...no point fighting over the window seat.

It's in store. I'm not sure how long it lasts. I was there on the 19th, so that was last week. It could vary depending on where you live.

Am I the only one who didn't really care for Moon?

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

Well, everyone has different tastes and opinions, but what didn't you like about it?

It's true- there's no accounting for taste.  It just didn't grab me.  I found it too obvious and dull, I guess.  Maybe I said more about it when it wash fresh in my mind.  Maybe I posted about it in the "Last Movie Seen (was Inception!)" thread, but I can't remember.
