PT Optimism

Ok so not everything about the PT was terrible.  What were some things you specifically liked about them?  Here's some:

  • Duel of the Fates is so epic it makes you forget what movie you're watching for a while
  • Anakin cutting off Dooku's hands was fuckin sweet I don't care who you are
  • Natalie Portman.  So hot it's not right.

Answers:

1. It was boring and too choreographed

2. There was absolutely no emotion to that moment. Luke's hand removal was much more "fuckin sweet". Dooku hardly showed a reaction TO HIS HANDS GETTING CUT OFF!!!

3. I agree.

4. Mods, please move this thread to it's proper place. Thx

I seriously hope I will live enough to see the original Star Wars trilogy in this quality
You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

RE: PT Optimism

LOL it took two posts for the optimism to die.

I know the movies are bad so I don't know why you're arguing my points, I'm just looking for some stand-alone moments that we can look at and say, "Ok, that was pretty cool".  And I was talking about the song Duel of the Fates, not the scene.  The song is great.

*edit - I figured since this is OriginalTrilogy.com this thread would be off-topic.  Sorry if I'm wrong.

well . . . in all honesty . . . I liked the fight a little. I also have to say I really liked John Williams music for the fight.

3 things I liked:

1. The score was excellent.

2. Drew Struzan's posters.

3. The podrace was pointless, but kinda cool for the first couple minutes.

I like fanedits of the PT.  And anyone who doesn't think Nat is hot is insane.

Red, PT discussion is allowed in General SW Discussion, you just have to be ready for the backlash.

Natalie Portman hot? Honestly, seeing her in "The Professional" or this new movie with Ashton Kutcher, AFTER seeing the prequels, makes one jump out in sheer surprise at just how hot she is. If you get he drift.

I've read this four times and I can't figure out if you think she's hot or not.  If you think not, then you are insane.  But if you DO think she's hot, and you're using "The Professional" as an example, well...

Either way this doesn't make much sense.

I was confused as well, but I think the picture clears things up ;)

P.S.

RE: PT Optimism

I enjoyed TPM enough to see it three times in the theater, not because I liked the movie as a whole, but because I really enjoyed certain scenes.  Particularly:

  • seeing Tatooine again,
  • a great-looking sith villain,
  • the lightsaber duel and accompanying choral music, which I still consider to be incredible, and
  • the parade at the end, I liked the marching band (reminded me of drumcorps, another hobby of mine)

I saw AOTC and ROTS exactly once in the theater, each, and almost less because in each case I almost left early both times.  As an aside, I was also amazed at how they were able to make someone so hot (NP) look so drab.

I'm just confused if 2/4 thinks Nat was hot as a ten (?) year old or if he thinks she's not hot.

Yikes.

RE: PT Optimism

Well I was 13 when I saw TPM in theaters, so I had a major crush on her then, and she's grown into that crush well.

And Puggo I agree, Maul was an awesome sith.

RE: PT Optimism

There is a thread in General SW that had some discussion about why Maul was awesome (with the idea being that he really wasn't) but I don't recall which thread it is.

RE: PT Optimism

By movie:

Phantom Menace
1. It's a kid's movie, simple as that. It didn't try to be anything more, and there ware a lot of moments in it that are just fun.
2. The scenery in Theed, CG or not, is pretty amazing looking.
3. Liam Neeson. Unfortunately, Qui-Gon is uninteresting unless you explore the EU (particularly, as I always bring up, the Jedi Apprentice kids' novel series.)
4. The score was, as always with John Williams, phenomenal. I have more memories of it due to the mediocre games based off it, though.
5. The ridiculousness of the whole the-Queen-isn't-the-Queen part. Can you say deus ex machina?

Attack of the Clones
1. The theater I saw Attack of the Clones at. It's pretty sweet. Living in famous cities sometimes pays off. I wish I could find a good picture of the interior, but let's say the place is practically as big as a concert hall.

Revenge of the Sith
1. Seeing it with my father while we were on a family vacation in Hawaii.
2.

RE: PT Optimism

I thought the chase through the skies of Coruscant was pretty sweet when I saw it for the first time in IMAX. I could debate its absolute nonsense now, but at the time I remember being completely entranced by it. Probably my favorite part of my least-favorite Star Wars film.

I also don't find that "Friday" chick hot, btw. Why? Well, I'm not sure, but from what it appears, my brain needs way too much blood to process this much cheese and stupidity...

Or maybe it's because she's 13?

Seriously.

RE: PT Optimism

For the record, I was surprised to find out she is 13 as well.
