C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don't exist... then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks... and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming... Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

It's called Lucasium. It's highly addictive and forces one to make terrible choices for vague reasons.

Did you have the sound muted when you listened to it? Because that's the only way that new howl would sound any good at all

Are you fucking daft man?? You mean to tell me that that clip Ady posted, as it is, sounds okay? It sounds like a 9-year-old recording himself yelling and then playing with echo effects in home PC sound editing software circa 1998. It sounds embarrassingly bad, and I can't believe you would demonstrate such bad taste as to say that fucking piece of shit is okay to be heard in a Star Wars film the way it is.
On the other hand--I don't believe that is the "final mix" version, whatever the sound is. It could very well be what the 2004 version actually was, as the book says it supposedly is, before it was re-processed and then mixed in with other layers for the final product. Or, it could be the new upcoming sound before further processing. All I do know is that the sound you hear there is extremely unlike to actually sound like that when you watch the film; hearing raw sound clips can be misleading sometimes.

"When George went back and put new creatures into the original Star Wars, I find that disturbing. It’s a revision of history. That bothers me."

aka Pancakeskenkraly2007, can you confirm that the sound Adywan posted is the same sound you're talking about?

yes and I don understand what you hear in a pre mix is not the sound you will hear in the final flim so maybe the new howl won't be the one that will be in the final mix when the blu-rays come out next year.

aka PancakesAh, so this is another one of those "Maybe it'll all be okay, you don't know!" things that you're so fond of.
I picture you putting your fingers in your ears, yelling "LALALALALA!!!!" every time someone tries to tell you that the Blu-Rays probably won't be any better than the 2004 DVDs.

The reason I say those things is because some not all people are jumping the gun and say the blu-rays of the star wars films won't be good quality. What if they are then whould you all be happy? Until lucasfilm issues a offical Press Release on what to exspect in the set and what kind of quality the finished product will be we just won't know.

of Earth.I sure hope they fix the colour. I have been told that they won't, but I'm still pretty sure that they will.

I could be wrong but this scream could be the original sound of the SE sound (the whistle sound), before more effects were added to it.
At least I hope this is not a new sound for the BD.

1) None of us here would trust such a press release. What, if it was going to be shitty quality do you think they would say so? They won't even admit the obvious faults of the 2004 DVDs, and they've had six years to do so.
2) If the Blu-Rays are good quality, good for them. But I won't be happy, because they won't be the versions I care about - they'll be the 2011 SE's, not the 1977, 1980, and 1983 theatrical cuts. I'll never be happy with anything Star Wars until those versions are restored, no matter how good the quality of the latest version is.
3) Since you're so fond of asking "What if they're fixed," I'm going to pose a question to you:
What if they're not fixed?

is automatic for the people.Maybe someone could process this sound and see if they an match what is in the SE? Or vice-versa?

KK2K7,
Yup it would. And so many of us have had our hopes kicked in the face before, we (the so many of us) are pretty reluctant to jump back in to being hopeful. I think the cynicism is justified.
