Jedi KnightI agree wholeheartedly with IrishLuck though i would say nothing past 1995. Except for the bantam novels and the dark horse comics.
1996 was shadows of the empire, now i don't entirely hate shadoes but characters like Xizor and Dash Rendar aka cheap Han Solo knockoff were not needed.
1997 was the year that will live in infamy the year that buried the originals forever, and allowed these bastard creations called special editions to take their place.
1999 Jar Jar and prequels premiere nuff said. Also Chewie dies in Vector Prime and the New Jedi crap. i mean order novels are released.
2006 non anamorphic gout from 1993 laserdisc released as bonus discs.

ignorant confectionI thought KOTCS was pretty entertaining and brainless and didn't have the severe allergic reaction that a lot of people had to it, but as far as the meat of the original post is concerned, I pretty much agree and did the same thing a few years back with both my Star Wars and Star Trek hobbying. In my world, Star Wars is only the original trilogy and Star Trek is only the original series and the first six movies. The rest, I leave for the birds. My friends refer to it as when I "became a fundamentalist geek".
