if you change the background to Black i think it jsut might work. also if you use a dark charcoal grey for one of the border colours it will look very nice. the black is key though if you do that it will make the site look alot better.

I looked with IE6, and the post reply and subscribe buttons take up the whole screen width. The reply itself is the exact same width, but shifted to the right due to the boxes there. I am also trying it in the IE 7 beta from Windows Vista, which does the same thing. When I get more time I will do Lynx and Links screens. I don't have cygwin installed which prevents me from getting screens of konqueror, which uses the same rendering engine as Safari.

Here's what it looks like in Firefox for Windows, and pretty much what it should look like in all browsers once I've finalized the browser detection and custom stylesheets. I have font smoothing turned on though, so the text will look different if you don't.

I tried it in netscape and could not read the text, it looked like it was written in Russian. Please tell me a won't have to change my web browser from Netscape to Firefox?

IE doesn't properly render div table CSS, which is why the reply and subscribe buttons stretch across the screen. It's disheartening to hear MS is maintaining their poor standards support in IE7.

Netscape and Firefox both use the same rendering engine, Gekko. If you want to switch web browsers, use Opera.

I tried it again, The mouse arrow turned into a the magnifying glass, allowing me to enlarge the image. In the enlarged verison, the text is easily readable.

Jay is there a way to make a different CSS structure for those using IE in other to emulate the look on Firefox? I, for instance, cannot use anything other than IE on the office, for some crazy political reasons I don't really understand.

Hey Jay, a question about something for the new forum software:
In this current incarnation, a user sees what has been updated indicated by the blueness of the folder icon next to it, but this changes by what machine you're using to check the forum, rather than the username, which is how most message boards I use operate, and the way I much prefer. If I'm out of town or something and want to use someone else's computer to check the forum, I have to figure out what's been updated and not. Then, when I get back to my own machine, I have to figure out what I've already read, etc. Will the new software count the updates according to the logged in user, or the way it currently does?
(If any of that didn't make sense, just ask and I'll try to clarify.)

I haven't built that functionality yet. It may or may not be incorporated in this first build. I gave myself a personal deadline of late tomorrow night to get a beta version online in some form, so it probably won't make it in time for that.
When I do get to that functionality, it will probably be based on username.

I wasn't sure where else to put this, but what are the plans for putting a limit on the size of pictures or amount of text in the signature area, if there are any?
I might be the only one here, but overly large pictures in the signature area and excessive amounts of text(in both amount of lines and characters) are extremely distracting and kinda take something away from the whole foruming experience, if that makes any sense.

Signatures will have a 500 character limit. While there won't be a limit to image sizes in signatures, you'll be able to block users' forum signatures completely if you wish. You'll also be able to substitute links to images instead of loading the image itself.
