Everything is a psyop!CNN- The “X-Men: First Class” sequel won’t bow until July 2014, but speculating about it is bound to be easier now that producer Bryan Singer has shared the flick’s title with fans.
The James McAvoy- and Michael Fassbender-starrer will be called “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” The title comes from the ‘80s comic of the same name and is set in a dystopian future (which should be familiar to “Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique in the franchise.)
“There will be elements that will be similar to the original ‘Days of Future Past,’ but there will also be some original elements,” Singer told CNN. “I can't really say more about it. I will only say that it's a very ambitious project and it definitely widens out the X-Men universe.”
Singer confirmed that Matthew Vaughn will return to the director’s chair, but there’s still no word if anyone from “The Last Stand” will show up in the film. (According to Entertainment Weekly, the original comic features Kitty Pryde, the character played by Ellen Page in the 2006 movie.)
“It's at script stage, so it's coming along good,” Singer said. “It's going to be cool.”

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityWait, the X-Men prequel will take place in a dystopian future? Or have we given up on it being a prequel to the "original" X-men movies? I'm very confused.

Summer of 69erToo bad it's not called X-Men: The Reboot.

My Heather Langenkamp avatar has decided to go on an extended vacation and may not be back for sometime. Not to worry, though, for she will be back - eventually.

"friggin midgit devil teddy bear"Wasn't First Class a sort of reboot?
As for Days of Future Past taking place in a prequel setting, it is a bit of a time travel story, so it'll work fine.

Summer of 69erI want a reboot by someone who likes the classic X-Men and doesn't have a stupid hard-on for Wolverine.

Would the time travel elements of the story allow them to write-off the existing X-Men films (excluding First Class, obviously) as alternate universe, ala Trek?

You would have to do pre 90's X-men then. Before Wolverine was on any X team.
The Mini series by Claremont And Miller were so popular i can see why he was added.
If you want Jack Kirby X-men then you need Ms Marvel, Iceman, Cyclops etc.
In their 1960's incarnation like the Kirby-esque first class comic and not the pathetic movie by the same name that had nothing to do with the Kirby era X-men.
Singer apparently still plans to do X-men 4 and 5. Yeah like those will ever see the light of day. Maybe more of a chance than his Man of Steel film with Brandon Routh, or his version of Battlestar Galactica.
Still i doubt they will ever happen. Just like the Magneto spinoff never happened.

MySpleen AdminUgh, please stop dragging X-men through the mud. The first movie was alright (even though it was not comic book accurate which I can accept on some levels) and everything after that has been garbage including the wolverine movie (adamantium bullet causes amnesia?? Are you fucking kidding me!?!).
I wish they would stop this madness or at least switch to animated movies. Probably the best thing for me to do is stop watching them ;)
