Drifter KaneHello starkid! What's your favorite character in the Star Wars universe? Mine's Yun because he has the best Star Wars outfit I've ever seen even though it just happens to be an apprentice robe(I'm not sure if it is), he's asian(well, at least I think he is), he has my favorite lightsaber crystal color which is gold and perhaps the most favorite lightsaber constructed hilt of mine too(never really got a close look to the hilt though). He has a slick look, and a slick name. My favorite fleet is Darth Vader's and Emperor Palpatine's fleet in Episode 6. And so what happens to be your favorite fleet if you have one?
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

Hi, I'm new here myself. Looking for fellow fans of all six films. I have no interest in talking to haters that call themselves fans. I don't care what version it is or who shot first! If it's star wars I'm there. Hope there's at least one other out there that feels the same way.

^ You'll find that this forum permits all forms of discussion. So the choice is yours to ignore it, confront it or go read somewhere else. I'm curious where you've latched onto this anti-hater mentality or where did you previously read which contained these types of typing. Many people consider this place one of the centers of that so-called agenda.

Everywhere I look there're people claiming to be fans hating on star wars for one reason or another. I agree there're flaws in some of the films & some of GL's decisions haven't been the best, but i love all six films regardless of those flaws. And I don't care which version I watch. In my mind its still all star wars. I just want to talk to someone that feels the same way, but I have yet to find anyone that feels the same. It seems you have to like one version of the films or another & god help you if you like the prequels. I mention I like the prequels & fans that were there in the 70's scream that I'm stupid. That's where my anti-hater mentality has come from. I was born in 81 & didn't see star wars until I was 5 in 86 so maybe that's why I can watch any version of the films & not feel that my childhood was raped. Anyway, I didn't really mean to rant just want to find fans that feel like I do.

Where were you posting/reading where you came across these people.
I just want to talk to someone that feels the same way, but I have yet to find anyone that feels the same.
If you're goal is to talk about what you like, then this might not be the best place. Generally it's recognized that people appreciate SW here, but to spend all day saying they like it is something this forum is not known for. We discuss other things, much of it revolves around preserving all the versions of these films. Many people in http://boards.theforce.net/ forums sound like your target audience. There's also places like: http://port-haven.com/index/ which have a mix of generalized SW chit-chat. *EDIT* But if even this is not enough and you want full-on moderation to control what you read, then the Prequel Appreciation Society http://lazypadawan.proboards.com/ is the place to go.
Everywhere I look there're people claiming to be fans hating on star wars for one reason or another.
Another thing you'll have to get over is that many people (especially myself) do not consider themselves Star Wars fans, yet spend a lot of time talking about it.

I came off sh*tty & for that I apologize. Din't mean to sound so rude. Just looking for people that want to discuss the films without talking about how GL destroyed his movies & their childhoods. Everywhere you go it seems that's what people want to do. Just want to talk about the great story, that dispite the flaws, is still great. Just tired of arguing. Again, sorry for coming off so sh*tty.

"darth endeor was a meanyhead" - FatherSkywalker, et al--QFTI like all six films, though I'm definitely a far bigger fan of the original trilogy. Seriously, if you are easily offended by "haters", then this might not be the site for you. I've tried defending the prequels, but it doesn't get you far. If you want to do that, there are many sites that promote it. While I think most would welcome you here regardless of your personal preferences, many do talk about the various qualities in a fairly objective manner and what makes a film artistic by generally accepted criteria. You don't have to agree with anyone, but if you get offended, you may just want to poke your head in another site.
I myself just make fun of people who take things too far with their criticisms ;)

*sigh* I came to OT.com to get away from fantarded bullshit like this.
I had to talk to some guy today who alleged that I had never read/seen anything beyond the OT because I "couldn't possibly not like the Prequels, the Clone Wars show on now, or any of the books" since they're "wayyyy better than the old stuff, which should be remade anyway". People tell me I "don't understand Star Wars" and can't handle the "expanded, more beautiful story" by not considering the PT part of canon, and state that I MUST accept anything branded by George Lucas as an "irrefutable part of the story"
...I can't say I'm a fan of Star Wars anymore, because they just don't understand that I don't like what's going on with the series these days, or they don't understand how I could be such a "retro, stubborn conservative" (LOL) fan.
Duracell, we're a dying breed. Everyone I come across is calling me a "fake" fan, and a "fool" for not being a mindless slave to Lucas's degradation and whatever he brands as canon. I'm at a loss here, because when I read the old EU, or watch the original films, I just don't see what people call "Star Wars" today, I see greatness...and Star Wars isn't great today.
-Someone, someday, needs to bring back the LIGHT SIDE to Star Wars. Has anyone else noticed striking similarites between the character of Anakin/Vader and George Lucas, or is it just me?
-It's called STAR WARS. NOT "Episode IV: A New Hope". Kids, get this straight.
-Please read the Archie Goodwin daily SW comics: Too good to be forgotten!

I like the original trilogy better as well, at least better than eps1 & 2. Ep3 is almost as good as empire but comes up just short. I don't go to other forums because they gush over star wars & wont listen to any criticism of the films at all. I highly enjoy eps1 & 2 but they are flawed & I acknowledge the fact. Fantards, as DuracellEnergizer so quaintly put it, freak out when you say that & I have no desire to talk to them any more than I do haters. If you don't like the prquels or the newer versions of the OT that's fine. I just don't see why people have to be hateful about it. It doesn't offend me that some people don't like some of star wars - what offends me is the way some people express their dislike.

legendary but little-known Jedi MasterThis forum is called "originaltrilogy".com because - surprise(!) - its focus is on the original trilogy. So don't be surprised if most of the people here are therefore focused on SW/ESB/ROTJ rather than on the prequels. Although there are certainly people here who inexplicably, through whatever mental insanity from which they suffer, like those too. Actually, I do myself admit to having a morbid fascination with creepy puppet yoda from Ep.1 and very desperately want him to be preserved and his deep artistry appreciated for all time.
Oh and BTW, that "childhood" stuff didn't come from us - we just get blamed for it. I think my childhood survived Jar Jar perfectly intact; well, mostly.

Are you sure this is what you want to do. This is the same criticism i've got for the Prequel Appreciation Society, their blog spends an amount of time focusing on the things they don't like in fandom instead of being an Appreciation Society. You are doing the same thing. (of course you are partly answering my questions) I've got no problem with this line of discussion, and this place is willing to go down these roads, but at some point if you really do want to discuss the movies, do just that. Start a thread, or search through the forums, lots of issues are open for discussion. You don't need to * letters, shit is a word.

Didn't want to offend by using foul language, which I use quite a bit. I try not to use it on forums. I apologized earlier for sounding rude & doing exactly what I'm complaining about & I apologize again. People here are not rude & hateful like others I've come across. I posted before really checking out the site & for that I was wrong. I guess I've strated onto the dark path & unfortunately have begun to sound like Anakin.

The funny part is that that kind of thing, and especially the certainpov blog, are so shrill and often wildly inappropriate that they probably just have the opposite of their intended effect and make people head for the hills. Anyone who was on the fence about giving the prequels another shot would take one look at that stuff and all its crazy manifestos and run the other way.

I think this is just the general trickle of new people interested in the movies, with the official forums gone and tf.n in retrofit less places to go. Plus as the topics here offer more key word relevant film discussion... (well maybe not)

These forums are number 5 in the returns. The first two being official SW.com and the SWTOR gaming forums. Number 4 on the list hasn't had a post in almost 3 years. Number 7 is also not active. Interesting that the top stop and another of the top 10 are SW gaming forums.
