Yes, but I was talking about "The making of Raiders" not the DVD - extra.
I think thats the one I have. The Best Buy exclusive disc. Sometimes referred to as the 5th disc?
What I tried to explain is that the best Buy exclusive is just a featurette that takes its footage from the old full-length documentary, nothing exclusive about it, it's just about 10 minutes in length but what is on it, is probably in better quality than on the LD-preservations of the full-length.
We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Any of these would be good too:

Anybody know if there was a Story LP for Radiers?
I only have one for Temple of Doom, but there is one for Raiders.

I wish my Raiders figures could help. I used to have the Well of Souls playset, but I never had a Marion, so I'd use Leia.

The Widescreen laser disc of Raiders
I used to have an AVI of this, but deleted it when I got the DVD set.
If no-one can find an existing copy on DVD, I'd be happy to get the LD off eBay, capture it and put it on DVD for you.

I am ready for the trials!I've got the widescreen LD in my collection. I can transfer it to DVD like I did THX-1138, one LD side per disc at the highest bitrate, with PCM audio.
I also have a VHS capture of an old magazine show segment from 1989 about Ben Burtt, in which Raiders sound FX are briefly discussed.

Got it. He gives an excellent recount of the rope bridge stunt in Temple of Doom, but I fear there's very little usable for this project.

Jedi KnightThe raiders story of was specially mixed by Burtt for the LP, so they chose pieces of dialog from the film, there are sound effects not in the movie.
I think they created it for a audio experience in mind, and not a digest version of the film like those star wars ones.
Speaking of digests i wonder if someone can find and transfer the super8mm sound and color film digest put out by marketing films.
Not sure if that would be any use though since there were no differences except with audio between the 35mm and the 70mm.
The differences being minor or fixes as Neil S Bulk once pointed out the 35mm has wrong sound effects.
Some of the storyboards i think were featured in the illustrated screenplay, but not the Dave Stevens ones i think which have never been published for some reason.
Digging up old cinefex or American cinematographer issues would be sweet as well, if anyone has them.
The making of raiders and great movie stunts was released on USA laserdisc, did DFNYC do that one ?
You could probably also source that stunt scene from stagecoach and zorro that they copied for the truck scene, is you wanted to.

I did this myself a while ago, albeit in a very low-tech way (HDV camcorder off a projector screen, audio via minidisc). It's no Puggo but you're welcome to a copy if it's any use.

Yes, DFNYC released The Making of Raiders, Great Movie Stunts, The Making of Temple of Doom, and Great Adventurers and their Quests.
Jambe Davdar, do you have the single disc DVD re-releases of the movies which came with additional extras?

Better Grumpy than DopeyTalking of HDTV versions, wasn't there a broadcast rip of the pre-clean-up version available at one time? It would potentially make a better source for the original version than the LD, if it can be located.

Maybe the old "The Raiders of the Lost Ark Collector's Album" could be useful:
"It follows the order in which the movie was put together, from its inception in Hawaii through pre-production, then covers the production set by set, from the first day of filming to the last. Quotes from the director, producer, cast and crew are illustrated with exclusive behind-the-scenes photographs, Spielberg's original sketches of his conceptions for scenes, letters, telexes, storyboards, production paintings and the final movie stills."
Haven't read Rinzler's making of, so I don't know if there really is anything useful in this one that isn't covered in that book. But I have this one scanned, so if you're interested to take a look, let me know.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityAt least someone has the new shot in HD we can get captured! Also, some of the HD versions will be cleaned up (no snake reflection), but some might not be. That's what we're looking for really, an HD copy that has reflections.

Jedi KnightThanks to ColinK I have some DVD's to start working with. I am in the market for a new imac. The G5 that made Star Wars Begins is getting on a bit now. Hopefully I kind find the funds for one soon. Why does big expenditure always coincide with my tax bill?!
Hopefully I can make a proper start soon. Got some interesting reading done and found a few cool little interview bits I can use in addition to the official stuff too.
Also heard from the VFX Supervisor on Moon yesterday. He said he would gladly help me out if I ever wanted to do a Filmumentary on Moon. Very cool indeed!
In the meantime, my friend Nathan knocked up this title screen. What do we think?

I have 1080p versions of both the old CGI cliff transfer and the new (2009), non-CGI cliff transfer of RAIDERS.
The new one looks fantastic, much better than the DVD and its HD equivalent.
EDIT: I found some comparitve screencaps illustrating the difference between the two transfers:
