Misfits (UK tv show)

M'kay if you haven't seen this show. Start watching! It's awesome.

It's basic premise is that a storm ended up giving people powers and, they have to deal with those powers. One of the girls gets the power of making anyone want to have sex with her via touch. However she can't "turn it off" so she has to be careful not to touch anyone unless she wants violent sex. I HIGHLY recommend watching from the beggining.

No the main characters are ASBOs (Anti-social behaviour). Basically, they did something delinquent and, need to do community service to pay for it. Simon almost burned a house down for instance.

Yeah been watching it from the start - didn't think much of the first ep but after that it got way cool.

just be careful cuz the latests eps are plotspoil city. Really interested to see where things go and hoping they don't dig their own hole ala shows like Heroes.

Sometimes i have to concentrate hard to nderstand what kelly is saying. Is it just me? it's the accent coupled with the way she speaks.

I assume season 2 will have 6 episodes like season 1?

oh, also - the opening titles music is so damn catchy.

I can understand her just fine. It's not just you though. It's a common comment on YT vids, IMDB, and in her auditions. So, she's currently taking classes to make her speech clearer to expand her carreer. It's her natural accent so, it's probably gonna be tough.

I don't know how many episodes are going to be in series 2.

I was put off as it looked like Tomorrow People meet Torchwood and Heroes (and I can only stand one of those most days) aka the Zzzzz-Men.

I don't know about Torchwood or, Tomorrow people... Heroes is far inferior to Misfits in my oppinion (Season 1 of Heroes aside) . Thus far it's been at Heroes' best levels consistantly or, better.

The Tomorrow People was great fun when I was a kid and had the most creepy theme tune and title sequence ever. It mirrored some of the ideas in the X-Men comics and pre-figure some of the telepath story themes in Babylon 5. It was a very, very homemade though (even more than Doctor Who of the day) and in reality was nowhere near as good as I remembered it.

Torchwood is one of many spin offs of Doctor Who.

Pinched shamelessly from The Forge stories in the Big Finish audio range only nowhere near as good or clever the first two series were a mixture of bad masks, awful CGI, hideous characters and pointlessly shoveled on sex.

Then suddenly it returned in a single story mini-series where it was actually rather good.

It will return as an UK/USA jointly funded show (probably).

Misfits is pretty funny, and has very clever story lines that actually delve quite deep into the subject of the week..especially all the time travel stuff...

Series 2 is shaping up to be very good indeed!!!

I dunno, I started getting a bit of a heroes season one vibe in regards to Curtis' power.

Re: Kelly - it's partly caused by her throwing in a lot o f "erm" and  "yeah" just wherever. It's not a dealbreaker, though.

and Torchwood...that's just trash, it's got nothing on Misfits.

Never seen the tomorrow people but it sounds interesting.

oh, and it looks like 7 episodes for season 2. Six regular + an Xmas special.

FX [fingers crossed] for further seasons.

Erm, i dont like to follow TV shows since getting hacked off with Lost and its ill scence of direction throughout the seasons. Then i got into Dexter (im totally hooked), and recently The Walking Dead (which is starting to take a nose dive at the end of season 1). Strange that i wasnt awear of this show until now, but i'll give it a shot anywayz. Thanks for the heads up twister.

Who is the most foolish, the fool, or the fool which follows it?

Also fought in the clown wars, many years ago..and lost..miserably..

Bingo: What I read from the descriptions and, skimmed on wiki I think Misfits is still a different show to them. I can't speak for quality not having seen either but, TTP deals with evolution powers, Torch with aliens. Misfits deals with a random event giving people powers.

Your Welcome Darth Solo.

actually they can pull off drama quite well, like Nathan [read: Nafern] and his dad [Dexter Fletcher FTW!!]. But yeah it's had some good LOL moments so far.

I love Misfits. One of the best programs to come from British TV for a long time. And series 2 is shaping up to be even better than the first, which is a rarity. It is a perfect mix between humour, drama and horror. Wipes the floor with programs like Heroes .

Bingowings, ah the Tomorrow People, that brings back a lot of memories. I can remember when i was a small kid everyone use to play pretending we were one of them. Grabbing our belts and pretending we could jaunt.

RE: Misfits (UK tv show)

When I was a kid the idea of the Autons in Doctor Who (and their killer plastic daffodils) were eclipsed by The Tomorrow People idea of clothes that crushed their wearers to death.

The execution might have been a bit poor but the idea was really creepy.

Another show that really gave me the creeps was The Changes (people being driven mad and attacking their consumer durables...you know, for kids).

I might give Misfits a go thanks to the recommendations, I was just communicating my initial prejudice (I was also put off by the initial glimpses of Farscape, Babylon 5 and nuBSG but later was pleasantly surprised).

Isn't about time we had a Sapphire And Steel revival on telly (the audios are fun but it's time we brought back spooky)?
