Finally saw it last night.  There was a lot of destruction, which certainly would have resulted in damages like noted in the above picture.  But honestly I really, really enjoyed it, and I don't care what fake people like Frink's wife think about it.  It was fantastic!  If I were a fan editor, the main thing I would change would simply be the extensive destruction.

Here's a bit of a review that made me laugh..

recap: One of the most noble characters in the history of human imagination has been rebooted. All of the options are open. You know whose rules he plays by? HIS OWN. He’s capable of horrible stuff. You run with gangs? He runs with TWELVE GANGS, and they all commit hate crimes. Did you just make him mad? Don’t make him mad. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry. Because he is THE INCREDIBLE HULK, or Superman... or whatever.

Minor spoiler alert:

In spite of of how much I liked the movie, I noticed one serious logical error right away.  In Metropolis, Zod's ship is work in tandem with the world engine or whatever it's called on the opposite side of the planet.  In Metropolis, it's broad daylight.  After destroying the world engine on the other side and getting knocked out, Supes gets some recovery as he soaks in sunlight from the morning light.  How could there be sunlight on opposite sides of the planet simultaneously???

No, because the audience would not be familiar with any other superman villians beside Lex Luthor and Zod. It's all about selling tickets than taking risks. That's why they had the origin story in Man of Steel for the second (or third?) time.

Just got back from seeing it - bag of shite. Just can't be bothered to say any more at this point it's got me so pissed off.

Just saw it too. I have to say, one of the worst films I've seen. I didn't imagine they would make a worse Superman film than Superman Returns but it seems like a masterpiece compared to this. Ugh. Very disappointed.

Glad I saved my money. 

But isn't Superman IV considered the worst in the franchise by fans? (Or at least until Man of Steel arrived) Granted, Superman Returns was bland and pointless; and the later Reeve films at least have some camp value.

This was more like "Man of Steal" (my money).

I walked out of this film just after the jet attack, and Superman crashing into the IHOP with one of the villains.  Product placement sure can be annoying. These overload of CGI shows hold absolutely no wonder element for me at all.  This disaster fest had no magic, no romanticism, no humor.  Violent to excess is an understatement. I will never forget the pure excitement and wonder the 1978 film had. The goose bumps and thrills I got at moments like when Lois said "You got me? Who's got you?" are not to be found anyplace in this poorly scripted mess.  Glenn Ford was in the original for less then 10 minutes of screen time, yet his Jonathan Kent's emotional tear jerking death felt like a dear old friend had just passed.  They sure don't make them like they used to! I've been following the progress of this film's production over the last few years, and very sad that it's turned out to be total disappointment for me.    

You should have stayed for the ending.

Superman tells Lois, "I'm really hungry from all that fighting. Do you like pancakes?"

Lois responds, "I don't like pancakes. I love them. But all the roads are destroyed."

Superman then says, "Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads. Grab my arm, it's IHOP time."

Although I agree Doomsday wouldn't be a bad choice either I'm gonna side with SilverWook and say that Darkseid would make a great villain for another Superman movie. There's so much to pull from in Jack Kirby "New Gods" world -- and as far as I know he's a much more interesting villain than Doomsday if only because of his motivations and backstory.

That said, I think he'd be best for a Justice League movie. In my dream world that movie would go like the end of Superman TAS where Darkseid drives Superman mad and he almost destroys the world... that would be interesting.
