RE: Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal

2013-2014 will see the release of the new MPEG-H standard.  Initial word is half the current file size for equal resolution. 'Ultra High Definition TV'  Not sure if this is the same as the h.265

Great news!! :D What with Jaws and the Indy films out on bluray shortly, not to mention the Hitchcock collection, this is shaping up to be quite some year for HD!

more frames here and there..

i think you get the idea with the test

reel, and the filmguard process..

it's been a really fun ride. we'll let

you know when things are ready to

go.

oh, and just to let you know 'i've just made

a deal that will keep the empire out of here forever!'   !!!???!!!!!

I don't even know what that means =|

just imagine if you could get all the things you

were hoping for..

but it meant you had to deal with someone

that you didn't think you would ever have to.

and you would get the things that normally

you wouldn't be getting anytime soon.

in a way we have met our 'lando'...

that's what happened. don't worry, in a few

years it will all make sense. you'll see..

I hope it doesn't mean that the project is cancelled :-(

I interpret this to mean that someone in 20th Century Fox or Lucasfilm has contacted you and supplied you with archival material direct from the company, but there are certain strings attached.

Interesting....

I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't.  Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.

don't worry, everythings fine.

it's NOT anything officially related.

the deal is getting better for

us each time.

you'll see.

I have a guess what this might mean. But I'll keep it to myself and we'll see how it turns out. :)

Good luck with whatever deal it is! It sure sounds good.

RE: Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
wrong guesses people..

it has NOTHING to do with anyone
related to the movies

tell you what, if you guys can
figure out what the deal is about
(someone was getting there earlier)
i'll find a way to get you
on the list for a sneak preview
of the workprint.. ha ha.. good luck!

remember
it doesn't have to do with anything official
or anybody thats related to the movie

i was just speaking figuratively
just replace various people
in that scene from ESB
and it would make sense

or you could just wait a few more years
and find out!

Ok I won't say who I think is your "Lando", but let's say I think it's a certain person you've been in touch with earlier, who knows the right people with the right material, who might have come up with a deal so you can scan a couple certain low-fade prints of ESB and ROTJ, (or maybe more?) as long as the restoration is kept completely underground.

That's my take, as well....

RE: Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal

Well either that, or they sold their souls to get access to Lucasfilm's archives. :P
