i want to do a couple of grindhouse versions afterwards,
with gaps between the reels, and the heads/tails.
that’s what I meant when I said.
It may be a good idea to synch each reel separately
For example
Reel 1 ends with
{C3PO}
“Why I should stick my
neck out for
you is quite beyond my
capacity”
{R2D2}
“Whistle”
Fade to black
Reel 2 would start with
{C3PO}
“Thank the maker “
Fore the heads/tails in the film
You over lap GOUT
I am thinking of looking for missing frames
As a posed to removing extra frames.
There is the stuff about the spliced in craw
such that may have extra frames to cut.
But I hope you get what I mean.

don't expect to find much.
most of them are blank, or fadeouts.

i have a feeling there's going to be a lot of
updated projects that will incorporate thisrelease as a newer standard.
I'm pretty excited. I've had some ideas for a while for a project like this: I'm going to put little CGI robots all over the place. Maybe some extra Stormtroopers riding dewbacks...I might even fix that Han/Jabba deleted scene and throw that in there.

haha, actually, the deleted scenes from the bluray are
interesting to me.. and will fit in pretty well with the
grindhouse versions... one, with them cleaned up, and
one with them as they are:

Padawan LearnerLet me tell you that I am impressed about this project. Really! It is a tribute to the movies itsself.
Is the actual work done on the 4k version or on the 1080p version?
(I got demotivated for the german project since the laserdisc player which arrived was not working but this could be something to motivate me getting this project going again.)

Pure, Unadulterated ManiaI just want to take a moment to say "thank you" for working on this incredible project. After years of trying to squeeze a little more out of the same less-than-stellar sources...and resisting the urge to punch babies over the many unresolvable flaws in GOUT...the thought of watching (and working with) a "trilogy" source of this potential still feels unbelievable. Never before have I been this excited about a fan effort :)

we work in the higher resolutions whenever possible,
and apply all the fixes there first, and then downsample,
color correct, and render.

thanks, but hold off on those until its out!
anyways, i think as soon as it comes out, we'll probably stop discussing
anything more here. and move it back to a different blog perhaps.
(not the same as before). no need to impact the OT.com one,
just trying to be cautious. and will definitely be laying low, and
not try to draw attention to it at all. if people find it on their own
great, but there won't be any big promotion or anything. it will
just show up.
i'm not saying anything bad or extreme will happen. but better to play
it safe than sorry.

please please please capture jedi too if you have any concern the prints will be confiscated or otherwise made unavialable. To have SW and Empire but not Jedi would be heartbreaking (to me, anyways)

there are provisions in place, if and when we get jedi.
and there will be team members that will look into it.
but its a few years down the road, and it has nothing
to do with any print confiscation or anything like that.
i'm solely in this for star wars. the other two movies of
the trilogy will be handled by different people in this project.
i'm removing myself from this after this one comes to completion.
4 years and a whatever monetary expenses is all the time
i can invest in this, and i need to move on in other areas
of personal interest.

don't worry, when the time comes,
people will post some sort of information here,
or via a blog...
it all depends on how this goes. if we need to
go completely anonymous. i'm sure a release through
myspleen or newsgroups will just 'show up' when done.
i happen to be active here now. but if and
when the time comes, i'm sure the moderators of
this board will be contacted, or some provision will
be made to alert people when the time comes.
none of us are on facebook, twitter, or any other
social media, so that doesn't work. i have email
addresses of all the blog members. and i'm sure
the most active ones will be made aware of any
news.

got to see reel 4, very nice..
and the beginning of the tricky
trash compactor scene looks pretty good too!
we're about 70% of the way there.

we have data for 70% of the whole movie, and
are in various states of cleanup and color correcting it.
the last few pieces should be done soon, and then
when the final parts are here. we can start assembling
a workprint.
