Doesn't know how to handle his new-found fameSorry to make a whole thread for this, but the forum search and google have both failed me. I'm trying to locate that recent quote from James Cameron about George changing his movies & altering history.... Thanks!

You mentioned these six minutes of new scenes. Are you one of these guys like George Lucas who likes to go back and tinker with their old films?
I’m not into revision. I think every film should be exactly as it was executed in the moment. We’re not changing the rest of the film, we’re just dropping these scenes in. I actually don’t believe…like when George went back and put new creatures into the original Star Wars, I find that disturbing. It’s a revision of history. That bothers me. I certainly wouldn’t go back and do that to any of my films. A film I made in 1984, it’s what it is. It’s a creature of its time. But with these new scenes we’re adding, I think people certainly had an appetite for more Avatar than we gave them. Nobody complained about it being too long. The scenes we’re putting back are righteous scenes, they’re not Jake sitting around talking about his childhood.

Wait for me. I shall be merciful and quick. If we're looking for citations, could someone dig up that quote from Sansweet or Lucas where they mention they've had the transfers done for years now?

That's why I typically put the link when i'm quoting something and when finding search results, give the search engine results link. Click, You'll see what I did, searched only through this website, then with cameron's name and I remembered that the quote was discussed in a blu-ray thread, that made it surface on the first page of results. The more terms you can give, often it helps make the info surface quicker.

Not finding a quote, (if you give more details might find it) have a feeling this was from speculation that the source of the blu-ray wouldn't be a new transfer but a continuation of the 2004s which were from the SE enhancements which were done at 1080. zombie84 explained here:

Anthology:

Continuity: Near the end when Ripley is on the dropship, she is seen arming herself. We see her grab a flamethrower from the weapons rack. She then lays a pulse rifle on the deck. Next she pulls a pulse rifle from the rack, and lays down a flamethrower. (The 2010 Blu-ray is slightly re-edited to remove this error.)

Jedi KnightThe Cameron quote came from an April 2011 interview for Entertainment Weekly website I think.

Right here.
But this is an example, not a principle. It's not very useful in discussion.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityFixing editing and FX mistakes: OK if done with director's approval.
Replacing characters, adding new characters, then repressing the existence of the originals: Bad.

That's the first I've heard of that, thanks for providing the info.
You would think with seamless branching you could have the shot of Bishop in the hole in the theatrical cut and the fix in the director's cut and everyone wins.
Same could be said for the gold room (which is not so gold now) in Alien.
But eh, I don't even own Aliens only Alien. Not because I hate the sequel or what Cameron did to it but I wouldn't watch it that much to justify the purchase. Fun movie though. Four out of five balls.

Jedi KnightThe gold room was coloured like that for the 2001 DC. It has now been thankfully returned to its original grading (although I will admit, I like the more exotic gold version from the original DC).

Yes, the 2003 Director's Cut was were Ridley revised the colortiming, including the golden hue in the landing gear room.
