I'll be watching it soon. Didn't watch it during the original run (missed too much to just jump in), so I got Season 1 a coupla weeks ago. If I like it, I'll get more. :)

Watched some more Portal. I love the blooper reels they had during the credits.

Some lines, some during bloopers some in the show.
(strikethroughs denote bleeps)
Dave: "Nobody panic. The universe is fucked."

(two n00bs are running away from a huge flying creature about to eat them.)
n00b #1: "Sarah, incase we don't make it out of here I just wanted to let you know. I love you."
(silence while running)
"Sarah?"

Sarah: "I heard you."

In terms of web series I watched sfdebris review of "Night of the Comet".

THE GATHERING IS THE PILOT JUST TO LET YOU KNOW!!!! It's not included with the standard season 1 boxset. It's in the movie collection. You can watch Season 1 without seeing the Gathering. Since "Midnight on the Firing Line" does sort of allow a person to get introduced to the series but, if you can I do recommend watching The Gathering first.

Also to note DO NOT watch "In The Beginning" at the start if you get the movie collection. Just The Gathering. "In The Beginning" can be viewed anytime after you watch "War Without End" two parter in season 3. Without getting spoiled on anything.

Plus it has Tron in it [later on]. Did anyone ever see the short lived spin-off? Crusade. I think about 3 people liked it, myself included.

Finished watching Terriers. loved it. On to more Tim Minear stuff shortly.

Oh, man, you've never watched Babylon 5? Boy are you in for a treat! Just a heads up: the series doesn't really start picking up steam, IMO, until Season 2. Season 1 isn't bad, it's just not really on par with Seasons 2 and following. So if you finish Season 1 and feel like it's a little meh, I'd really recommend giving Season 2 a shot anyway.

As for The Gathering...well, I don't feel quite so strongly as Twister111 does. It works well enough as a pilot, but again I don't feel that it's quite on par with the bulk of the show (Seasons 2-5).

Make that four people. Crusade was pure awesomeness; I'm still really peeved it got cancelled after one season. :(

I've heard it has similarities to Deep Space Nine, and I guess that's another one of them. DS9's first season was pretty hit-and-miss, but it got better quickly.

I was going to say more or less the same thing.  After season 1 was pushed on us by a friend, my wife and I were kind of "...  ehhh....?" about the whole thing.  When we gave season 1 back, he had season 2 all ready to go and we were still kind of ".....  oh, gee.... I don't know....  um....." about it.  Season 1 seems to be all about single episode stories that establish the fabric of the universe.  Seasons 2-4 (by Rousseau, feat. Tron) are actually really good and have more of a "serial" flavour to them.

Still just four.  ;)

(Was Crusade the one where the hyper girl played kinect and yelled a lot in zero-G to fire the ships weapons?  Or was that Legend of the Rangers?  Or are they the same thing.)

Agreed. When I introduce someone to Bab 5, I give them the following list of nine Season 1 episodes that are more or less important to the story arc. The rest of the episodes are essentially skippable. (Assuming, that is, that they want to skip the rest...)

1. S01E2, Midnight on the Firing Line

2. S01E7, Mind War

3. S01E9, And the Sky Full of Stars

4. S01E14, Signs and Portents

5. S01E18, Legacies

6-7. S01E19-20, A Voice in the Wilderness, pt. 1-2

8. S01E21, Babylon Squared

9. S01E23, Chrysalis

That's how Mrs. xhonzi and I are too.  She doesn't play L4D with me, or see some of the more... blood and guts type things.  But she's happy to watch sci-fi and action... as long as I watch Pride and Prejudice annually.  :(

Ahahahaha...Pride and Prejudice. I've never had to watch it, but I've been hearing it (hysterical shouts of 'Mr. Darcy! Mr. Bingley!') and many, many associated movies for years because of my mother. Once we discovered Abebooks, she got me to order a bunch of things that have to do with the characters too. Oh well, I'm happy to oblige.

The 5 hour version or the 2 hour version?  I have to look at my contract, but I think I have to watch both.

I just can't wait until Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is out.  Then maybe we can meet in the middle.

It's not that I feel strongly about it. I did type "You can watch Season 1 without seeing the Gathering. Since "Midnight on the Firing Line" does sort of allow a person to get introduced to the series but, if you can I do recommend watching The Gathering first." Afterall.

I just recommend it because, well it's the start of the story. There's refrences throughout to it and, it's the way I first experienced the B5 story when it first aired*. Either way mostly I just wanted to let it be known that it's out there since, the standard season 1 boxset doesn't include it.

It's called "The Gathering." I wouldn't say "don't watch it," because it's not bad per se. My opinion is that it's just not quite as good as the series itself. But seeing it won't hurt anything, just so long as you know going into it that (a) there are a few character changes between the pilot and the series; (b) it's not absolutely essential to the plot of the series, though it does provide some interesting non-essential backstory; and (c) in the opinion of many Bab5 fans, the pilot and, to a slightly lesser degree, season 1, are a bit uninspired compared to seasons 2-5.

Additionally, if you do want to watch it, just be aware that it's not included in the Season 1 DVD set. As twister111 pointed out, you want to look for either the movie collection or the 2-dvd The Gathering/In the Beginning set.

Despite being a dude, I am not at all ashamed to admit that I enjoy Pride and Prejudice a great deal.  I particularly like the 5-hour BBC version with Colin Firth, but the recent movie was good too.  I've also read the book and had trouble putting it down.

Granted, I at first had to be convinced into it, but it's a damn fine story and I highly recommend it to everyone.

I've also seen something called 'Lost in Austen', which is kind of like a self-insert crack!fic version, but somehow that managed to be good also, in its own weird way.
