Magister Pontifex MaximusYou must have.
I meant that while both shows are top notch examples of the art of television both of them are equally fantasy.
Killers like the ones in Hannibal are as realistic as the dragons in Game Of Thrones.
In both cases the fantasy doesn't get in the way of what the artistic side of both series are attempting to do.

has been intentionally left blank.Saw the first two episodes of Arrested Development [Season 4]. the first didn't impress me but the second felt more like the old days. Hopefully it improves a bit more.
Also been watching The Americans and quite liking it. Two KGB spies in 1981 pose as a young american couple [in america].

Ointment FlyI just watched the first AD episode and enjoyed it. I look forward to more, despite some bitching from various corners of the interwebs.
I barely recognized Maeby, incidentally.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityThe 4th Season of AD is impossible to review on an episode by episode basis. Them knowing exactly how much time to fill and time to write it means that its interconnected in ways you can't possible see from just the first episode.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityFinally finished Arrested Development Season 4. (Finally? It's been a week.)
Overall, I liked it. It has some pacing problems towards the middle, but like I said a couple posts ago, knowing exactly how much time they had to fill and no limits in writing means that it's more of a 8 hour movie than 15 episodes of a TV show. I think they might have turned out better had they kept themselves to a 22-23 minute timeframe, as some episodes are pushing 40.
What I appreciate most is that they didn't just keep running the old running gags. Each one got a shout out, but the running gags in this season were new. It takes some guts to pretty much ignore the gags people have been quoting incessantly for the last 5 years, which honestly have gotten a little tired.
As for it being the lead up to a movie, I still don't see how a movie of Arrested Development would work. There is just too much ground to cover. It would take 2 hours for someone to have never seen AD to get caught up, then the movie would be over. If they're still doing that idea, I guess they have something in mind.

That would be the ending where the blue bird flew off into the sunset and was never seen again?

Double standards!!I've recently started watching Hannibal. It is creepily gruesome, but in a good way. I get chills and a nervous vibe from it right from the start of each episode. It's so incredibly dark.

at 45 mins it's probably a bit overlong for the story they were telling but I loved every absurd minute of it.
You can watch it free online too. It's up on Adult Swim's Youtube channel and probably other places.

Magister Pontifex MaximusHannibal still manages to be artistically ghastly (you could hang stills from these episodes in a gallery).
I've had a Biu-Ray player for a couple of months now and haven't felt compelled to buy any new discs for it.
I think the first series is a definite contender as everyone involved deserve to be rewarded for what they have done so far.
The series has surpassed the films and the books for me in terms of what it does with the characters.
I hope they don't screw it up in an effort to keep the title character free.
Dexter went down hill after one too many narrow escapes from the law and this is a much better show than Dexter ever was (and this is from someone who has a bit more pleasure than pain from that show).

I could not agree more. The show is top notch stuff. Not for the faint hearted mind you.
