RE: Last web series/tv show seen

Kenneth Johnson was sorely missed on the second V miniseries. (There was an old Starlog interview where he talked about what his version would have been.) And when NBC had promos running for "V: The Series" during the broadcast, how the heck was one supposed to take the "Final Battle" moniker seriously?

However, Jane Badler can brainwash me anytime. ;)

In memory of Tony Scott we watched The Hunger (1983).

Looking it up on the interwebs I discovered the short lived UK/Canadian television series of the same name from 1997 and ordered the DVDs which arrived yesterday.

While not a direct continuation of the film it shares some of it's stylistic and thematic 'DNA'.

It has Terence Stamp in season one and David Bowie in season two delivering witty little intros in the manner of Alfred Hitchcock or Rod Serling to some fun if a bit raunchy short stories written by some big name authors staring some now big name stars and directed by some big name (past and then future) talent.

Well worth a watch.

If Frink wants to do a remix of TRM it has some hilarious Terence Stamp lines.

No thanks.

Finally, finally watched the first half of the Firefly pilot.  It has begun...

Sons of Anarchy

Pretty good show but the musical director deserves to be beaten by bikers.

Watched the pilot for Elementary out of curiosity.

It's a rather implausible, slightly silly police procedural with a few clearly forced elements of House MD about it.

Not the worst thing I've seen on the box but it doesn't need or deserve the references to Sherlock Holmes in it.

Ah, but it does, doesn't it? Gotta take advantage of the popularity of BBC's Sherlock.

Like you said, it's basically another police procedural in a long line of others on the CBS network, masquerading as a Sherlock Holmes show.

But I may yet watch because I love me some Lucy Liu.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn: Part 1

Pretty decent so far. The story isn't really about the Master Chief [the main protagonist from the games] but he'll show up at some point. At this point we've met the characters and gotten a hint that something dark is coming..

Also started watching Season 2 of Homeland. Great show that...

Going through Buffy for the first time. Just finished season 4. I try to Put a gap of a few weeks between seasons. It's so amazing that I'd rather not go into zombie mode just to get through it and say I've seen it.

Also rewatching Firefly (Just ordered my Jayne hat for Halloween.)

Also watched season 2 of Sherlock finally. woah.

Also watched the first season of Twin Peaks. Don't quite get the hype. It's entertaining I guess.

Oh yeah, Walking Dead is back. Season 2 made me angrier than any piece of entertainment ever to enter my eyeholes, but the first episode of season 3 was great.

Watched the premiere of the new season of American Horror Story tonight. I didn't watch last year's season.

This show is...odd. But I'm intrigued by all the wackiness. It definitely has a creepy atmosphere.

I've been keeping up with Forward Unto Dawn as well as The Clone Wars. Both are starting out awesome this season!

What'd y'all order a dead guy for? ;)

Enjoying Forward Unto Dawn so far.

Been checking out that new Vegas show with Denis Quaid...a bit of fun so far. Good retro flavour.

Catching up on face-Off. Good to see Neville Page on the show but the Judges on the whole seem to be up to something this season - voting people off who do well and keeping people around who consistently fail the goals. Kevin Smith was a fun guest judge.

been watching a bunch of sitcoms new and old in my free time.

I miss my Max Headroom t-shirt :(

Started watching American Horror Story as well, but from the beginning. I am pretty forgiving of The Walking Dead series, to me the worst thing about it is waiting so long and getting so few episodes. Glad it's back.

RE: Last web series/tv show seen

Turns out there was no need to start with season 1 of American Horror Story, as the same actors return in completely different roles for season 2. I found it entertaining, but the ghosts' ability to perform virtually any human act left it feeling more like a weird drama than a ghost story half the time.

Now watching Doctor Who for the first time since the 80s (not counting the new series). Started with Jon Pertwee - my first Doctor, Delgado's Master. I liked Tom Baker too but I'm not sure after that. Davison made me lose all interest but that may have been based purely on his clothes. So uncool.

Really? So if a person hated Season 2 it is actually worth it to watch Season 3???? If you recommend it to me I might actually check it out again.

RE: Last web series/tv show seen

Yeah.

As someone who came to loathe the non-zombie characters of season 2 the first episode does seem to be a step in the right direction.

Probably because we are down one knuckle dragger and the action is so fast that they haven't had much of a chance to talk and stuff.

It might be worth waiting to see if later episodes revert back to annoying soap stylings of season 2 before returning to the fold.

I remember rather liking and defending early episodes of season 2.

GO TEAM VENTURE!

I thought Venture Bros. was finished but I just discovered the Halloween special and found out there will be two more seasons!

Love Venture Bros.

Did you see from the Ladle to the Grave: the Shallow Gravy story?

A very Venture Halloween. Good fun. Felt a little weak for a regular episode, but for a special it was better than nothing [I think i liked Ladle to the Grave better..]

Catching up on some H+ but still way behind. - Digital series on youtube.

Also catching up on some Fringe: season 5. I used to love this show but i'm just not feeling it anymore, this future stuff just doesn't grab me. Hopefully they'll tie everything up neatly in the end..

Watching a few Halloween specials including Mockingbird Lane - a remake/reboot of the Munsters. I hear it probably wont become a series actual but it was a bit of fun and a nice twist on the original concept.

I've been watching Andrew Marr's History of the World lately. It's intensely interesting and humourous here and there in the English fashion.

Looking forward to the History Channel's take on the same subject in "Mankind: The Story of All of Us".

So far so good on The Walking dead. I thought they were gonna do something stupid in the second episode, (trying not to spoil it) but the ending totally redeemed it. I really liked episode 3, It was a talky one, but done much better than anything in season 2. They actually seem to have a plot that they're working toward. I'm actually excited to see where this goes.
