RE: Last web series/tv show seen

Caught the last two episodes of Dexter last night.

God that show has gone down hill recently.

It did however plant the image of David Zayas (and none of you tell me he isn't Puerto Rican) all tied up into my sordid brain.

It reminded me of poor Mike Yates.

Oh Dexter has been horrible since season 5. The writing is so bad, there are so many ignored details in the plotting, and it's just plain boring to watch Dexter "escape" from getting caught over and over and over.

Such a shame. I'll still watch it to the end but the brilliance of seasons 1, 2, and 4 is long one.

Also, I honestly saw "the twist" about a certain character coming from the season 6 premiere. They dragged that out forever as if it wasn't painfully obvious. The main villain was laughably bad, too. Just horrible.

On another note, does anybody watch Shameless? I'm interested but weary of all the hour long shows I already watch.

Ha, funny you should ask that at this time. I just decided to give the pilot a go yesterday, had never heard of it before seeing a trailer for the US remake (which I suppose is the one you are asking about), which for some reason prompted me to check out the original pilot. Not sure what to think yet.

Caught up too with the final Black Mirror story.

God that was a brutal episode but so plausible.

I hope more stories get made as the three in the first run were really powerful and uncomfortable viewing but intelligently written which is a real break from the norm on British television at the moment.

Still enjoying Breaking Bad into the third series at moment.

Watched the latest two episodes of Sherlock.

Great fun and beautifully shot.

The dynamic between Holmes and Watson is great, as always.

Preferred the latest episode 'The Hounds of Baskerville', though that's probably because the book it's based on is my favourite Holmes Novel.

The one thing I didn't love about it was there was no way the audience could work out the specifics.

I deduced the basic gist of what was going on in about six minutes but the specifics were in universe and therefore beyond anyone but the author's reach.

With the original story it was possible (but unlikely because of the red herrings) to figure out every element of the conclusion of the story which is much more rewarding.

You get that "oh of course" feeling.

I spent the last quarter of the story trying to work out the acronym when I couldn't have possibly have worked it out.

Anthea Crispy's worst stories have the same cheat to them.

Russell Tovey should also be discouraged from making that horrible squealing noise.

It was kind of fun for two or three episodes of Being Human but now I just want to punch him so hard his ancestors will die.

True. True

Oh Gosh, tell me about it! He is unbelievably annoying. I was really hoping his character would die during one scene.

Emmy Rossum goes topless a lot.  So have tissues handy.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

So Doug Jones has expressed interest in playing Slender Man in season 3 of Marble Hornets.

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

One doesn't play the slender one.

The slender one wears his mortal clothes on the inside as we wear our dead clothes on the outside.

I tried wearing the bodies of others for a while.

Felt squishy, fingernails fell off.

It was our idea, I started a big Twitter campaign for all the MH fans to send him tweets to get his attention, and he PM'd me with his email address saying he'd be interested. So I sent him a nice long email and now I'm just waiting for his response.

Watched the first episode of "Sherlock". Fantastic, but I think the wife was bored.

We also watched the pilot for "seaQuest DSV". Did you know it was directed by Kershner?

Can you make it to Season 2 for Mark Hamill to show up?!

I loved that show when I was a kid.

I cannot recommend it enough. I flew through the first season today instead of working, that's how good it is. It has the production values of a feature film. The writing, the performances, the direction, cinematography, it's all absolutely flawless. There are very few shows I say are flawless. The Wire, Breaking Bad, and Downton Abbey. That's it.

So did I and the wife. It has not aged well, in my opinion. We might keep on, but the more I read about the later seasons and how fantasy-y it got, the less I care to continue.

Apollo 18.

2 balls.

A 'found footage' style presentation. I dig the style but the storyline just drags and doesn't really build tension like it's meant to. And they showed too much of the [redacted] to make it scary.

Doesn't this belong in the movie thread? I wanted to see that when it came out but it slipped past me. Still have yet to but I imagine the original is still better.

Amazing, a whole satellite populated by amorphous antagonistic tetrahedral pyramids. I don't suppose you have it's binary coordinates from Galactic Zero Center?
