Magister Pontifex MaximusI've moved on to catching up with Dexter.
I watched the first episode of season 4 when the disc set came out but became sidetracked.
After coming to the end of House season 7, I thought I pick up where I left off.
Crikey it's gripping, blood chilling stuff.
Pretty grim too.
The usual cast are still going strong but John Lithgow never fails to remind me of what a versatile and capable actor he is.

Magister Pontifex MaximusTorchwood : Miracle Day continues to be lots of famine with the occasional bleak feast, I usually tick people off for saying this sort of thing but the story could have done better with half the alloted episodes.
Doctor Who : Night Terrors worked better the second time I saw it (which it shouldn't need to) though I would have preferred it where it was originally intended to be, in the slot where Curse Of The Black Pearl...sorry Spot finally went.
There were a lot of references which originally would have foreshadowed what happened towards the end of the first half of series six which are now wasted now that it has already happened.

See You, Space Cowboy...I went to look up the Wonder Woman TV series only to find out that NBC passed on it. Bummer! First she loses her movie, now she can't even get a TV show. It's a shame, because the previews once they fixed her costume actually didn't look so bad.

Alright-
I've never cared for Wonder Woman. I think she does far more damage to the "comics as a respectful story telling medium" than good.
I can sort of appreciate the recent attempts at cleaning up her image (giving her pants and a... lower... neckline) but I think her star spangled bottom is sort of at the heart of her "character". Well, that's not really fair to say. Just because I don't care for her as a character and have only ever seen her as superficial window dressing doesn't mean that there aren't people out there somewhere that like her for her "sparkling personality". I just don't see it personally.
I think cleaning her up sort of makes her unnecessary all around. Not trashy enough to be eye candy, not interesting enough to be anything else. I think she's a product of an earlier age and it doesn't surprise me that she hasn't gotten any new media off the ground.

Magister Pontifex MaximusIt's a sad thing when male superheroes have to have rubber muscles and female superheroes can't have real boobs and legs.
Superheroes of that 'elk' (tee hee) should have Olympian or Amazonian bodies but they should also have charismatic personalities and their dialogue should point to an intelligence beyond that of everyday people.
They aren't meant to be human they are meant to be superhuman.
Consider Spinda Carter (who I am still trying to ignore) :

She looked very attractive and looked like she could give a hawk a punch on his glass jaw before turning him into a dove.
She didn't look like an average woman or dress like an average woman because she was a Wonder.
In the context of her show she was also more intelligent and charismatic than the other characters.
The problem with a lot of television and cinema these days is 'average' people tend to be played by fashion models to void their averageness being deemed as ugliness and hardly any of those characters have any character resembling a real average person.
The way superheroes are often depicted as super now is by changing their surface details (by covering them in rubber) but as normal people are depicted as being as charismatic as a superhero any attempt to up that to a higher level comes across as camp as Burt Ward.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityShowed a friend Firefly/Serenity this weekend. I have to tell you if you have not seen it you are MISSING OUT. Consider this the 005 Seal of Approval.
Finished Arrested Development again last night. The third season really is kind of lacking, but the first two more than make up for it.
I think we're going to start on SeaQuest DSV next.

Hearing her talk about the various ways that she should be fucked; sideways, ear, etc; is cause for much joy in my house as well.
Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

of Earth.Well, it's hard to follow that...
Anywho-
We're cancelling Netflix tomorrow (end of the billing period), so it's our last night to binge on Arrested Development and Psych.
We're mid way into season 2 of Arrested Development. A couple episodes past the funeral, sell the stock episodes. The last one we watched was the charity auction with Mrs. Stiller.
But I think I learned someting last night- GOB is Jobe's initials? George O. Bluth, Jr.? Is Jobe an odd pronunciation of GOB? Does anyone ever actually call him GOB, or do you just see it in print? I don't think I had caught on that Jobe's name was really George Jr.
Also- we just saw the "Slow Charlie Brown Walk" Episode. So weird to see those clips in context.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityThey never mention it in the series, but I've always assumed it was short for George O Bluth Jr as well. When he does a magic show, they announce him as "A Magician called 'gob'", but everyone else says "jobe", which is how they tried to make his name unique, I suppose.xhonzi said:

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralitySince we aren't getting rid of Netflix, we were trying to pick a new show to watch. I decided we were going to choose between the two big AMC shows that just came to Netflix, Mad Men or Breaking Bad. We watched the pilot for each, and decided to run with Mad Men. Breaking Bad was good, it just wasn't what we were in the mood for. Mad Men is pretty good, I hope they quickly grow out of the dialog that sometimes just shouts "WEREN'T THE SIXTIES JUST WACKY!?"
