Just watched Season one of 'The Twilight Zone'.

God, this show is awesome I don't know why I haven't watched it before.

I've seen the movie though, that was pretty good.

Did you know that Steven Spielberg did the second segment in that movie?

You will not. None of us will, except for a very old and dying Ziggy Stardust who will watch it through teary eyes as he remembers us all.

Yep.

Did you know that a guy in the first segment got his head chopped off by a helicopter?

About half a season to go of Trailer Park Boys. Thanks Red! I didn't think it was that good at first, but a few episodes in I couldn't stop watching.

Breaker breaker, come in Earth. This is rocket ship 27. Aliens fucked over the carbonator on engine number 4; I'm gonna try and refuckulate it and land on Juniper. Uh, hopefully they got some space weed... over.

bkev had me watch Cowboy Bebop.

Usually I'm not a big anime guy (in fact I've never really watched it), but WOW this was amazing. In fact, my reaction to it comprised mostly of positive expletives.

I've been catching up on House (season seven). Dennis Potter has a lot to answer for (thanks Dennis :-D ).

Torchwood Miracle Day is finally telling something half resembling a story and Jack's getting his end away is at least justified by the plot (to some extent).

It's taken it's time..................

Hahahaha hell yeah, that show is the best man.  After the series proper is over, you have to watch the "Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys" special followed by the movie "Countdown to Liquor Day" to really end the show.

If you've never watched Eastbound & Down before I think you'd really enjoy that as well.  It's two seasons deep right now and the third/last is airing this year.  Other hillarious comedies I'd recommend to anyone:

  • Louie
  • It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia
  • Arrested Development
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm
  • Seinfield
  • Summer Heights High
  • 30 Rock
  • Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job!
  • Da Ali G Show

^I don't know how you could mention 30 Rock and not Parks and Recreation.

Too early, otherwise I would've included Community too.  And The Office depends on how this upcoming season goes.

Louie gets in already because of its perfection.

I'm still enjoying the US Office and I never really enjoyed the UK version.

Same with mentioning Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! but not Tom Goes to the Mayor. The "Porcelain Birds" episode is one of the greatest pieces of television ever produced.

I'm currently watching the first season of Highlander: The Series on Netflix. It's not a horrible show but it's not great, either. The storylines and most of the characters are rather "meh" for me; Connor MacLeod from the films is a much more relatable character than Duncan MacLeod, IMO.

God doesn't think in terms of black or white - or even shades of gray - but in big, bright, bold hues of blue and orange.

The truth. He was shocked and possibly appalled when I told him it only got better, I don't even like the first episode. Full recommendation post from me coming someday.

Coupling (UK)

I came in from mowing and my wife had been experimenting with the Netflix recommendations. I found that she had stumbled on Coupling. Its really funny. Between it, Spaced, and Doctor Who, I wonder why I watched American TV at all! ;-)

I think the UK Office is funnier in some parts, but the US Office is funnier in most.

I agree with this for the most part.  The US version has run on far too long, however, so the percentage of funny to not funny is moving back towards the UK version a little.

Also, I just wanted to try on the "how dare you" meme. ;-)

I agree, it became way too much the "Jim & Pam Show", and poor Michael was 'looking for love in all the wrong places' in almost every episode.  It was mushy and boring and not funny.  But this past season was actually really funny, so I still have hopes it can redeem itself with one or two solid last seasons.

In that case you also have to put Better Off Ted in with with Arrested Development!

I'm up to date now with Louie and I'm sorry to say that I can't support RedFive's claim that it beats most of those. Sorry Red. But I will keep up my subscription to your recommendation service.

I would also throw Flight of the Conchords and The Mighty Boosh into that list.

That's fair.  But I do support both of those choices.  Great shows.  Never seen Better Off Ted though, I have to admit.

Ted is worth watching for Portia DeRossi's character alone, but otherwise pretty good too. She is possibly funnier than she is in Arrested Development but the show is nowhere near AD overall. You could probably make that list pretty big in a thread of its own if you were so inclined. Though that might encourage the separatists...

Fuck yeah TPB!

The last season can be a bit of a chore, what with Jacob and Phil Collins being pushed to the forefront in the absence of Cory and Trevor, but Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys (post-S7 special) and Countdown to Liquor Day (post-SGTTBG movie) both more than make up for the lackluster final season.

Great.  Now I've got to marathon all of Bebop again...
