has been intentionally left blank.there are shows I used to be on the lookout for and buy dvd's of but since we've gotten a bunch of extra free to air channels here in Oz it seems that a lot of the stuff I like is on quite often - several times a day in some cases.
I've just been playing catch up on a whole bunch of shows, mostly Farscape.
and the last thing I saw was actually Scrubs.

I did finish series one, and have begun to appreciate the show a bit more. Funny, I actually liked Eccleston's Doctor a lot more than Tennant's, but I think the quality of the episodes in series two are a considerable jump in quality from series one and enjoy it much more now. I think Eccleston deserved some better episodes, kind of sad he wasn't in series two, but then again I don't think he could have pulled off Girl in the Fire Place (my favorite so far) quite the way Tennant did.
I actually didn't care much for Dalek, found it a bit on the dry side. Father's Day was a great concept, but really annoying in execution. The whole gargoyle thing was lame, and it is also stupid that he bounces around all over the time line saving lives without much consideration, but suddenly saving Rose's father has the potential to tear space and time apart at the seams. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances was pretty good. At first I thought it seemed kind of silly, gas masks growing out of people and all, and had a hard time taking it seriously (after farting aliens, can you blame me?). But in the conclusion they actually gave it a really logically explanation.
I am about halfway through series two at the moment.

That's great news! One thing, though, since you're in Series 2 ...
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY, SKIP LOVE & MONSTERS.
It's terrible, the monster was (literally) created by a little kid, and it's Doctor/Rose-lite, meaning they're barely in it.
Also, be prepared for "Fear Her" to be pretty damn lame, as well, but it's better than "L&M."

Magister Pontifex MaximusI kind of liked Love & Monsters, it dared to do something different and you can't take all of it literally because Elton Pope is every inch the unreliable narrator.
You can't really blame the kid for the monster because in true Spinal Tap fashion he designed it to be the size of the Cloverfield monster and they made it the size of Peter Kay.
It's meant to be a bit of a gentle piss take of Doctor Who fandom itself so if you approach it from that angle you might enjoy it.
It's one of those things you will either love or hate.
Fear Her on the other hand is definitely something to hate and loath, watch the film Paperhouse instead. It's the same idea (sort of) done with much more style, a lot less syrup and a lot more fear too.
Series Two is when Rose gets really annoying (though she gets much worse later, even when...).
I've recently been enjoying the Big Finish audio version of The Adventures Of Luther Arkwright (brilliantly done but I imagine impossible to follow without the comic book version).

aka PancakesI dunno, I just couldn't stand Love & Monsters. It failed miserably for me. I can at least watch Fear Her, but after my first viewing I've never been able to make it very far past the opening credits of Love & Monsters.
I've started listening to the Big Finish 8th Doctor audios, starting with Storm Warning. The first 3 (SW, Sword of Orion, and Stones of Venice) were all very good, SoV being absolutely fantastic ... but man, does Minuet in Hell suck hard and I'm only halfway through it.

Magister Pontifex MaximusMinuet In Hell is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz but they pick up again from then on in, keep year ears peeled for strange things happening in the details of the following stories.
It is weird to think of of all the Doctors the Eighth has the most coverage in terms of stories but only appeared on the telly (flashback clips and the odd doodle aside) only once (all those comics, novels and audios either side of the second half of the 'terrible event' years do add up).

Unnecessary background music is a major annoyance in Star Trek television shows from TNG onwards.
At times it seemed like the crews of the various ships and stations couldn't have a quiet meal or go to the loo without Dennis McCarthy droning on in the background like dodgy plumbing.
