Magister Pontifex MaximusLet The Right One In, and very nice it was too.
The experience was enhanced by what I thought was a knock on the door after the film was finished (only there wasn't anybody there brrrrrr).
Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

OT's bucketbotWarning: Parental Advisory, a 2002 VH1 movie about the PMRC hearings. Really funny, especially Dee Snider. :)
And later...
Twice Upon a Time, a 1983 Lucasfilm joint that was somewhat creative, but mostly meh, with some completely unnecessary profanity that, if removed, would make it a kids movie. As it stands, though, it's not. I hate that.
And later still...
Static, a 1986 movie about a young man who creates a machine that allows one to view a live feed of heaven. I liked it! While the ending made my jaw drop (and it stayed that way for a while), I'm not sure if I liked the ending ending. It makes sense, and I dunno what I'd do differently with it, but...yeah.

Not a bad film, but if it wasn't a musical it would have been infinitly better and a whole lot less dated.
And I hate Robin Williams.

Tauntaun herder-Damn Fool Idealistic CrusaderThe original, unbeatable, there never was a remake of: GET CARTER. Saw an original 35mm print at an art-house and was reminded of how much we need this restored from the old snapper DVD. Caine is the man...with a shotgun....naked...

of Earth. We watched Casino Royale again the other night (right before it came up in the sexism thread, coincidentally!). I love the movie, but someone really needs to come up with a de-Sony Marketing edit. They don't actually have to remove all 4 Sony Viao laptops, or all 7 Sony Ericsson phones, or the Sony Blu-Ray player, etc... but if they could dim/remove the superbright Sony logo on everything...
Man, I can't believe Campbell put up with that amount of corporate branding. And every car save the classic Aston Martin is a Ford, I believe. That one is pretty obnoxious too- but not as overt as the giant Sony logos on everything.
Also, it seems it would make sense to take the ~2.5 hour Casino Royal and shift maybe the last half hour of it to the ~1.5 hour Quantum of Solace. We saw QoS a couple years after our original viewing of CR and found that we really needed a refresher or a "Last time on James Bond" to make sense of the movie.
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

I keep meaning to see it because I heard Matt Berry from "The IT Crowd" was in it, and he has to be the greatest actor of all time.

Return to Form, or Forum in this case!!I watched Couple's Retreat last night. It had a few moments, but in the end it was just another mediocrity. Vince Vaughan hasn't really broken out of his basic character. You could say he was the same character every time and I would believe it.
Mostly it made me smile, but I have to say the cinematography kept me watching. I really wanted to go to that beach.
It is a weekend pizza movie. I found that most of the time my family were just talking and ignoring it. Compared to Funny People, the movie is hilarious.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won't last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you'll be able to project it on a 20' by 40' screen with perfect quality. I think it's the director's prerogative, not the studio's to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Indeed. I paid $15 for a player, punched in a code, and it works a treat! ;) (make sure it can do proper PAL/NTSC switching, though)
Check out these two excellent resources on region code removal and such:

That's funny. I watched "Evil Under the Sun" last night, one of Peter Ustinoff's Poirot films.
Albert Finney is definitly truer to the book, but I have a real fondness for Ustinov's somewhat sillier take.

Don't get "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Saphire," "Up," or "The Notebook."
I reccomend "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder" or "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase.
