The artist formerly known as C3PXThe flash side-ways were really the only good thing about season six, IMHO. The problem for me was with the island storyline, and the final explanation of the true nature of the flash-sideways. Since Sunrep's plan is to simply cut out all the flash-sideways and along with parts of the island storyline that connect to them, I don't think it is going to fix what I didn't like about season six.

I thought the same thing, 3PX, but I got an earlier version of his edit and checked out the first few episodes. He actually cut out a lot of the pointless/repetitious on-island parts of season six and kept most of the good/necessary parts in, while at the same time substituting the flash-sideways scenes for flashbacks of the island (from things like Ab Eterno and Across the Sea). So it still maintains the form on Lost (on-island along with flashes) while taking out the sideways.
Really worth checking out at least.

The artist formerly known as C3PXAre those earlier versions of his edit available anywhere?
Wish he could have kept the flash-sideways in there and made them work as a split timeline somehow. But then again, there story lines never get resolved, so it would be impossible.

Green Plastic SkywalkerNo, I got it from him personally, since it's against the rules to use tv rips in fan edits. I'd probably just wait till this version is finished, because the quality will be way better, and I'm sure he'll fix things that didn't work great in the first version.

The artist formerly known as C3PXThat is stupid you can't use TV rips in fanedits. Glad we don't have that dumb rule around here, otherwise we would have missed out on some great stuff by Harmy and Adywan.
So what format will these be released in? DVD ISO files?

The difference is this site doesn't provide links to the files, so it doesn't have to be as careful about what is allowed.

The artist formerly known as C3PXI know you're a mod there so it is obligatory you defend them, but it is a silly technicality. What if something only exists in the form of a TV rip, such as a particular version of a film?
Technically, linking to those files is illegal one way or the other.

Captain CAAAAAVEMAAAAAAANNNN!I'm not fully up on the preservation rules but I believe TV rips are considered preservations. Preservations were split off from FE.org some time ago, although oddly the forum for preserv was recently reintegrated back into the fe.org forum. I don't really know why.
I agree that it is a technicality, but I don't think it's fair to call it silly. When the site is living in a grey area, it has to be as careful as possible. The simplest way to do it is to state that you must own a retail copy of anything you use or download.
