Is George Lucas in the media much anymore?

RE: Is George Lucas in the media much anymore?

If by media you mean "news" and typically celebrity obsessed gossip, no he isn't. This isn't because he is isolating himself, or because they are isolating him, it is simply because there has been no news surrounding him lately. "No need to report until there is something to report", to quote a pretty awful film.

I don't know about him sounding stupid, I feel that he is a pretty intelligent guy. I think the issue is more that he is pretty full of himself and it shows as plain beard on his face. It is rare to hear the guy speak without tooting his own horn these days, he has always been a bit like that to some degree, but far worse now than when he was younger.

I remember George Lucas once calling himself clever.

I for one would have to agree, the man is extremely clever, but unfortunately, also quite clueless in many regards. George has really made things difficult for his fans. I really like the guy, so it sucks to hear people rag on him all the time, but the fact is, he deserves most of it (though not the crap from the assholes who are constantly wishing death and misfortune on him).

I am still very fond of his older stuff, and I still see young George as a pretty great film maker, and often lament the fact that that George has been absolutely nowhere to be found for well over twenty years now. Now sure what when wrong. You'd think a guy who had a very small number of hits and a vast pound full of dogs would be a bit more humble about himself and his greatness as a story teller.

Oh wow, that is really hilarious. See that? Vbangle was astute enough to point out to us all that Janskeet totally screwed up his grammar by using "stupider" rather than "more stupid". Very funny Vbangle. Guys who correct other people online CRACK me up EVERY TIME!!! I can't stop laughing my guts out! HAHA! Good show my friend, good show! Hehe... heh.

Phew! Now that I have finally caught my breath, I have one for you. You're going to live this! It is very funny. Wait for it, wait for it... okay, here goes... "stupider" and "more stupid" are both acceptable forms! ZING!

Well of course he was clever at one point, but not many come out and say that directly about themselves.

What is terribly ironic is He just recently received the Gene Siskel Film Visionary Award.

Although Siskel was not around to say how awful the prequels Episode II and III were and give them thumbs down.

He was also recently interviewed by the Director of Iron Man.

He is in the media lately talking about that tuskegee airmen movie, and a possible indiana jones V he talked about last year.

Promoting Clone Wars animated and gearing up for the live action show.

Lucas is incredibly busy producing stuff and no way near being retired.

Second Season of Clone Wars coming soon.  He has to approve the general designs and story outlines and scripts on the show.  and i would venture to say he is heavily involved, since his daughter is a writer on the show and star wars is his baby too, lol.

Does anyone have good reasons why he should not have imput?

I mean the dude created star wars and it is his anyway, despite the prequels being half the movies the originals were i still enjoy them embarrisngly enough as well as indiana jones IV.  And i have to block out the bad cringeworthy acting, and dialogue to enjoy them.  Which is incredibly irritating.

" A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing" - George Lucas

There is only 1 Star Wars Trilogy.  1977-1983.

He wasn't around to see Episode I, either. He died in February of '99. Roger Ebert took Siskel's son to see it, as he promised he would.

I think Ebert's review of Ep. I was fairly positive- I somehow doubt that Siskel's would have been as kind.

Whoa, what image did he send you? I feel I have been missing out on some drama. I am assuming this dispute has mostly gone on through PMs.

Anyway, don't let any of his crap get you down. If you haven't noticed, he only ever posts here in order to taunt other posters (which is pretty sad, surely he has better things to do). In fact, I cannot remember ever reading a single post from him that actually contributed to a topic. By my observation, his most useful function in the recent past has been taking sides and cheerleading when two or more other members get into some sort of a disagreement.

In other words, the guy is just here with the intent of getting on people's nerves, so don't let him. Or as they say, "Don't Feed the Troll".

The Star Wars you see today is not the Star Wars I grew up with, and I am fine with that, it is just a memory now, something that glimpses of can be seen by peering into boxes stored away in my basement, and that recollections of can be shared with people who grew up with it in a similar was to myself, like many of the people on this board. What more could I ask for?

Wow... what a twist!

There is no lingerie in space...

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don't exist... then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks... and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming... Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I am semi-curious as to what took place here.

I saw the mess in the Revisited thread, and I STILL don't know what happened.  I'm guessing it has to do with that PM...

Does he still use a physical church for Mass, or does he just have a big greenscreen?
