I have a feeling it will show up as a bonus feature in the SW BluRay box set.  "Empire Of Dreams" aired on A&E/History/Biography just before the '04 box set came out and there's a doc about Pixar on the Short Films disc that aired on Encore a few months before that disc came out.

You're probably right - I just figure it's a long time to wait, and what if it isn't???

"Screener" copies will probably turn up as well. There was a VHS and DVD of the tv cut of Empire of Dreams A&E put out for the Emmys.

I have it preserved on my DVR in HD. Not sure how to get it off though as it's not a TIVO.

It's a Dish Network DVR and I know that they're encrypted so you can't swap the drive out and put it in your PC. With my previous Dish DVR, I was able to run a SATA cable from the drive to a USB adapter on my PC after the drive had already spun up inside the DVR, and that allowed me to use a special program for copying things over. It didn't really work for HD content though as it couldn't read anything that was MPEG4, which I'm pretty sure all Dish's HD is now.  I might give it a try though just to see if it's possible.

Thanks Zion - I wouldn't want your to bork your DVR, but anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.

I was less than impressed.  Only ten minutes on the real star wars trilogy from 77-83 and little to nothing except that on physical effects done the good old fashioned way.  It was basically a long documentary on ILM Cgi and the prequels. 

I guess i should have expected that though with a title like creating the impossible, it would heavily focus on the development of the Computer graphics group that eventually replaced the physical effects group.

The book Droidmaker and Into the digital realm as well as the making of the special edition already covered all of this.  Some of the clips were new.

They missed a lot of stuff like the old star trek movies and the back to the future trilogy, as well as return of the jedi, temple of doom and last crusade.

Definitely not worth the extra twenty bucks i had to form over to see it on demand by purchasing a movie package with encore/starz.

I would not pay that sum of money on DVD for it because of the lack of focus on real special effects.  CGI is not anymore special as it is used way too heavily in all films.

A Lucash prequel era doc is worthless.

Eh, Encore comes free with my satellite package so I didn't pay anything extra for it. I thought it was a good doc, though maybe a lot of what they covered has already been seen on DVD special features. All the interviews were new though, and I did notice that some of the footage shown of the TPM pre-production meetings was new, or at least wasn't included on the TPM DVD.

As a 'Star Wars' related preservation, I would hope there's enough interest.  I can understand your reluctance to kick off such a huge torrent distribution on your own - in the UK we have a system heavily weighted on downloads over uploads (ADSL).

I know you have now interest in newsgroups, but would you consider sending copies of your blu-rays out to someone who could post them for you?

Looks like CtrlHD has posted an MPEG2 version on the newsgroups - comes in at about 6.4GB, which seems rather low.  Will try and download and report back.
