For capture cards look for mentions of PS3 and Blu-ray players.
^ That was my advice. Not for splitters, where they just shove in the keywords to get search hits.
The listing never had comments. The trouble with the listing you have there is that there are a bunch of sellers throwing up different 1x2 splitter models and then people comment on them without specifying who sold it to them.

"Your love of the halflings' leaf has clearly slowed your mind"I did apply your advice globally, but also using comments to verify. Yes, many complain about Amazon's nilly-willy mismatching of comments to "related products". They now seem to be adding the titles of the original products from where the comments came, which is a help.
So, is your above link the actual name of the seller "CVID", from who you found a working splitter? No point throwing away money on one without the full functionality they suggest -- Blu-ray, PS3, etc.

The other splitters do have that functionality. They allow you to play Blu-ray and PS3 on a TV that complies with HDCP. They don't allow you to break HDCP.
If you want what I have: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089DVCT8
The options are Great Elect via Fulfillment (which is what I did because I got Amazon Prime shipping), Great Elect, or Amazon themselves. Pennies separate the prices.
If you want a cheaper and smaller alternative that others say works for stripping HDCP (including reviews on Amazon): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F9LVXC/

"Your love of the halflings' leaf has clearly slowed your mind"Great additional links! Looks promising (with quite a few customer comments), too.

"Your love of the halflings' leaf has clearly slowed your mind"More information on HDMI splitters at the Speed Demos Archive forum:

Like the Amazon reviews, some are finding models that once worked are not working in later shipments -- indicating different versions with less capabilities. However, someone in the last pages of the thread found that the Sewell splitter does work. It may be another good link ... at this point in time anyway. :)

I tried to find a suitable device on BlackMagicdesign but....I've no idea what to choose. Which is the BM device you mentioned in your February article.... one and only but expensive ?
I need to buy the best HDCP stripper, suitable for Desktop, able to capture both encrypted and non-encrypted sources (both analog and digital).
Thanks in advance.

I suppose I should update the thread. They now make a relatively inexpensive card ($145) that does 1080p23.976 and 1080i59.94 with 8-channel LPCM, but it only has HDMI and SDI inputs; no analog.
Decklink Mini Recorder.

I don't have a clue what you're talking about at this point, since there is no such thing as HDMI or HDCP in the analog realm. There are other copy protection schemes there.

Thanks for your answer. I'm talking only about digital stuff. I was wrong when mixing info about analogue signal.
Which card from BM could offer me best capture of HDCP - encrypted HDMI sources, with best audio, for a PC desktop use ?
Thanks again.

I could use Decklink Studio ?
I just want to be sure that if I will pay for a Decklink Studio around $700 to BHS, this device will work for such capture, breaking HDCP protocol.
What's your opinion, it will work or not ?

I don't see any reason to spend the extra on the Decklink Studio if you only want to capture digital.
No BlackMagic card will let you capture or even view an encrypted signal. That's what the HDCP stripper is for (in this case a splitter).

Thanks for your answer. I already read all above messages from this topic and.... to be honest, I'm only a vet MD, and all this technical details are a little to much for me. I just want to buy a device that could be built-in a PC desktop (that I already own) with last gen Intel i7, W8 and tons of RAM (32 GB) and memory ( 2x 2TB).
What I understood is that a HDCP splitter is different from HDMI capture card ? For me it's a great progress indeed.I was close to buy from BM....
If you please, I need just to know the device name, or producer or supplier of best combination (splitter + capture card) that will not exceed a max. budget of $600.
Thank you very much for your time and support.

First make sure the PC has a free PCIe slot.
HDMI 1x2 splitter that strips HDCP + Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder = $161, not factoring in shipping
Like everything under the $400 range, this card maxes out at 1080i60. To get 1080p60 you would have to sacrifice multichannel sound, unless you massively expand your budget.

"Your love of the halflings' leaf has clearly slowed your mind"HDMI 1x2 splitter that strips HDCP + Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder ...
What do you think about the Speed Demos Archive forum's thread I mentioned earlier? There's allot of activity there (regarding BlackMagic and other capture cards) and the mixed results with various splitters -- where some previously working boxes seemingly have been updated to be non-working, as regards taming HDCP.

I haven't been following that thread. One poster said "Okay, follow up to my previous post - I am a huge idiot."
I won't start to believe any claims of "updates" unless someone comes forward who CANNOT capture HDCP through the splitter to their BM device but CAN capture non-HDCP sources through the splitter to their BM device.
Maybe such a post is in there somewhere; I haven't read through the whole thing.

Off the top of my head,
The HDCP stripper I mentioned above + Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme
This card costs $950. You can save $550 if you don't need multichannel sound, but it's only sold in Japan so you need to find a way to import: Micomsoft SC-512-L/DVI.

Thank you very much for your time. I will order them, put them to work and share with you first results, for the benefit of all.
Thanks again.
