Just wondering how many fans here have actually met people from the franchise.
I have personally met Anthony Daniels, and went to see John Williams in concert back in December.
Also, several times I have seen actual props and costumes (at Star Wars in Concert, and in museums, etc.). Luke's lightsaber was particularly cool to see. A lot of that stuff is just normal stuff thrown together with logos from different companies on the parts, etc. I also saw the chess table from the Millenium Falcon.

I am ready for the trials!I saw quite a few models and props at the 10th anniversary con. The Ark from Raiders was also there for some reason, and wise guys were taking turns lifting the lid. They should have rigged it to make noises or something. I doubt they would let anyone even touch such an iconic prop today.
Unfortunately, my camera flash malfunctioned, and the pics never came out right. (I ought to play with the negatives in the computer one of these days, and see if I can extract anything.) Alas, I wasn't able to stay long enough to get any autographs. (The hotel layout was a bit confusing which didn't help.) Someday I'll get my Chewie on Hoth photo signed!
There was a fellow in the dealer's room who had an amazing array of prop weapons for sale. (SW and Trek.) Some fellow looking over my shoulder jumped back when I pressed the power switch on a lightsaber. He must have thought it was actually going to do something. ;)

Son of the SunsI saw cast & crew of SW in Celebration Europe, got a few autographs, didn't talk to them though. Hamill, Fisher, McDiarmid and Daniels were there to name a few. I've seen a lot of props, too, we had the Art of SW show here and I went to see it. It was in 2001 I think, so it was full of TPM stuff of course, but there were many many OT models, like The Executor, Vader's suit etc. Pretty cool.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

I am ready for the trials! The condition of some of the original models seen on the Blu Ray supplements, has me wondering if they are simply becoming too old and fragile to go on tour anymore. Vader's TIE fighter was in excellent shape when it was seen on the 1993 Laserdisc extras, it looks like someone dropped it since then.
I hope Disney or Lucasfilm is thinking of a more permanent exhibition venue somewhere down the line.

I should find and scan my photos from "The Magic of Myth" at the National Air & Space Museum in DC, circa late 90s.
Of course that means remembering to take the photos over to my parents, as I don't have a scanner anymore. The only one I had was old enough that no Windows 7 64-bit drivers exist, so I threw it out.... but I can't seem to find scanners that aren't part of printers anymore, and my printer still works just fine.
Anyway, I should scan those.

Better Grumpy than DopeyMet Kenny Baker a few years ago at a convention less than 2 miles from where I live. Now have a signed photo on my sideboard.
Saw various props and costumes at an exhibition at the National Media Museum in Bradford (then the National Museum of Film and Photography). This would be around 10 years ago, after TPM but before AOTC I think. They had Anakin's pod racer suspended from the ceiling.

I work for an audio visual company & I was doing a conference in the Europa Hotel in Belfast for 'Equity' which is an actors union in the UK, the room was filled with familiar faces mainly from UK TV, but Oliver Ford Davies who played Sio Bibble in the FANTASTIC prequel films was there.....funny thing was ROTS was on it's first week of release in UK & I had seen it the night before.
I got his autograph and joked with him that I'd recently seen him on the big screen, he said he wasn't sure he'd made the cut & was in the film!
I've also met Dave Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch & Richard LeParmentier, but they were at a Star Wars thing.

I recently found myself in the same boat with my Dad's old scanner which I wanted to keep using as it's bigger than the one in my new printer. Either I keep WinXP on the old latop, or donate the sucker. Forced obsolescence sucks.
All my Star Wars pics from '87 were shot on 126 film, which the few places that still process film near me can't deal with.
If you're in the U.S., Fry's Electronics still sells standalone scanners.

Magister Pontifex MaximusI met Peter Cushing at a book signing when I was a little boy. I couldn't afford his book but he gave me a signed photograph and asked me where my nearest library was.

Doesn't know how to handle his new-found fameI met Peter Mayhew a few years ago at SDCC & got his autograph. Met Dave Prowse this past summer at a comic con in Dallas. Got his autograph & chatted for a bit. He was really nice and fun to talk to.
As for props, Disneys MGM (now "Hollywood") Studios park in Disneyworld Florida has had the Falcon chess table, a Darth Vader costume, a Tie Fighter, and bits of the Death Star surface on display in various places different times I've been there. There's also various vehicles from the Indiana Jones films rotting outside in the elements on the backlot tour.
But the best time I had seeing props was when the Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit came to Saint Paul, MN while I was living there. Went twice it was so good. They had a ton of screen used OT props costumes and models on display. Major highlights included the full scale landspeeder and the show-stopping five foot Millennium Falcon. That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

It's sort of disconcerting to see real-world prequel stuff, given how much was CG. And I know there were a lot of models in TPM, but still.

Padawan LearnerI can answer in one sentence: I have been trooping in costume at the opening of a Star Wars The Exhibition, with Anthony Daniels.
I got a few days access to the exhibit, which was nice. Building prop replicas is one of my hobbies. Unfortunately, there weren't too many props from the OT, but I still filled the small memory card on the camera.
You can sometimes meet some actor or some unknown extra at sci-fi conventions, and get his/her autograph for a fee... I have seen David Prowse (who wore the Darth Vader suit) more times than I can count -- signing autographs seems to be the only thing he does for a living. So far, I have got nineteen autographs from actors in the OT on a couple of posters, but I am still missing a few that I really want: "the three", Kenneth Colley (Piett) and Denis Lawson. Harrison Ford and Denis Lawson are known to wanting to distance themselves from Star Wars and they almost never write autographs.

I got to meet Dave Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch, Richard Le Parmentier, Kenny Baker, Tim Rose and Anthony Forrest at an annual event in Belfast.Theres no official movie props but the Emerald Garrison who help host this event make incredible replicas.

Ce n'est pas DuracellEnergizerThe title of this thread makes it sound like thorr's asking if anyone's met actual Star Wars characters rather than people involved with the production of the films themselves. XD

Ditto for me. The exhibit came to my city, and it was incredible to go. By far the coolest thing for me was the full scale landspeeder. It felt like I was finally close to the history of the movie that I loved so much. I took a bunch of pictures (enough that I killed my battery I remember), but sadly they are not on this computer. I cannot say I remember the Millennium Falcon in particular, but now this makes me want to go find that folder full of pictures on my other computer.
As for people, I have not truly met anyone, per se :( I guess the only thing close to that was when I went to a Star Wars: In Concert performance also in my city, and Anthony Daniels hosted / narrated. So I saw him in person, so that has to count for something. That is it though.
May the Force be with you.

I am ready for the trials!Neat! I'm surprised that there isn't a Star Wars themed bar out there somewhere. I've seen photos of a TGI Fridays where most of the knick knacks were old Kenner SW toys, which made me feel a bit old. ;)

Magister Pontifex MaximusWhen I lived in Edinburgh our local had loads of Kenner stuff up and the guys running the place were big Trekkers/B5fans so they had autographs from the various cast members who wandered in.
I got a few autographs in there but nothing Star Wars (got a John Hurt's autograph there).
Sadly they didn't like Doctor Who so unless they were one of the rare group of crossover actors they weren't given as many incentives as the Trek/B5 guys and gals.
I can't remember any Star Wars autographs up there the Kenner toys were the first thing I noticed.

I went to the aforementioned "Where Science Meets Imagination" exhibit while it was at the Museum of Science in Boston, which, I'm learning (or possibly relearning) right now as I look it up), originated there.
I've also seen a number of props/costumes at various Planet Hollywood restaurants (New York, Walt Disney World, probably D.C).
