I'll second the matte around Obi-Wan being a tad blue, but I haven't compared to 1.0..

I think everyone else already hit on the other bits that I noticed on the 1st round (and then some, lol).

As for the rendering glitches, man, those are always a pain to troubleshoot.
One suggestion, is to watch CPU temps while it's rendering - something like coretemp. If it's even close to overheating, it could be an indicator of CPU simply processing bad data. Other possibilities - hard drive hitting weird sectors, RAM processing bad data (usually heat, or a weird glitch on the data bus), or who knows what else. ...I've had similar glitches in the past, related to all of the above.

If it's consistently doing it, might try copying the source material, as it'll write to new sectors. Definitely also do anything possible to reduce heat related issues. Keep airflow good, always be sure to use a good hard surface (laptop still, right?), maybe even try a "cooling pad" of some sort.

yeah, turboboost might be an issue, and it can't hurt to try trying off, at last for a test render. Hopefully it defaults to a decent speed.

Happy birthday (though I'm late) and many thanks for the reel. Colours and detail are astonishing.

Is the image supposed to be cropped to a consistent format in the final process? The picture is growing slightly at 005847 where the human arm of the Wampa had to be restored (you see the black bars shrinking). Also, the material that isn't from blu-ray doesn't have round edges.

C3PO's highlights look a bit blown out after Luke and Leia's smooch. I have "Superwhite" enabled on my JVC projector so it shouldn't clip any graduation in brightness beyond 235.

Other than that (and the Obi Wan matte), it looks quite pleasing, compression artifacts aside. Thanks for sharing, Harmy.

And I love that you're attempting to reproduce the original compositing.

Couple questions about the compositing in the Star Destroyer scene. I know you're set on not using the Blu Ray footage there, but will the picture in that scene be cleaned up somewhat before official release? I haven't plugged it into my big screen yet, but on my laptop the scratches are pretty visible. As well, will you be using similar footage replacements for space scenes later on in the film, as well as Jedi?

Isn't there an way to "simulate" the GOUT by basically using material from 2004 or the blu-ray (same with the snow speeder scene)? I don't know how much alteration really is in those shots but they just look cleaned up to me in the first place - nothing the complain about, like your recreated credits of SW. So the loss of detail seems very painful to me but I trust your far better judgement and may be corrected.

These shot's have been recomposited and altered and in the SE; both in the location of the ships, matte lines, and motion bur. (compare the snow speeder in the SE and original version to see a big difference in how they look.)

I think the reason the fleet reveal shot has to be GOUT sourced is because: "The Super Star Destroyer bridge has been recomposited in this shot to cover up the Star Destroyer engine glows that were still visible."

That sucks, although to be honest, I think I might prefer crushed blacks to GOUT footage.

Sorry, they both are in SD and have DNR. (they look similar)

On second thought, after looking at how badly those blacks are crushed, I think 97 footage is for the best. (Would it be possible to replace only the crushed black part with the 97se? Probably a pipe dream with the different gate weave and warping going on.)

I just finished watching the Workprint. It looks fantastic. Great job, the colors look spot on.

What are the odds you'll be using '97SE upscales for later composite scenes, i.e. asteroid chase, Rancor, Battle of Endor, etc.? Or are those cleaned up composites not as obtrusive as the Executor reveal?

Man, a month ago I couldn't have predicted I'd be thinking in terms of GOUT, SE, and all the rest.

Don't pay attention to the audio.

MUCH better but still not correct :-) Check the final shot when the tauntaun appears, the background behind the ghost and the tauntaun is still blue.

I was going to use ImgBurn to create an ISO to burn, but I noticed Empire (and RotJ) only have BDMV directory, no CERTIFICATE folder like in the SW ISO. Will there be issues playing them on blu-ray players without it?

Should I just create the folder, with subfolder BACKUP?
