Harmy that was perfect.

Han D. SoloThanks, guys. What do you reckon about the colours? I'm using the idea discussed in this thread; i.e. I'm using the GOUT with boosted saturation as a reference. I'm doing it with some moderation of course, taking the red shift and other issues of the GOUT into account and also comparing it with other sources like the 70mm scans and such.

Reginald ScumMy first thought was that it was too blue, but after looking at the '04 version again, I hardly think so, as it's nowhere near that extreme, and being completely white is not right either. Seems like it's in the right vicinity colour-wise.
You might want to consider bringing the white level down for this scene and some of the subsequent shots of Luke lost in the snow. With the blue levels in the '04 being out of control, the over-brightness of the image isn't obvious; but once the colours get back where they should be, it's easier to see (even more so in adywan's version since he reduced the blue more than you did). Of course we all know the GOUT is hardly an ideal reference, but the snow scenes aren't nearly so bright in that. And Han does say it's getting dark out there, after all. ;)

Han D. SoloOh, I actually did darken it quite a bit. It is almost as dark as the GOUT now. The thing is, once you start darkening it, you start loosing considerable amount of detail due to the crashed blacks of the source, so you kind of have to find a good balance.
And for Empire, I'm actually using Ady's 14GB MKV and tweaking the colours of that, because I think that generally the colour correction is fantastic in Ady's version, he just went a little too heavy in places.

Han D. SoloI just encoded a workprint of Empire. It is a 3GB mkv and it is a finished cut (short of one shot which I forgot to replace before encoding) with the whole film colour corrected and it has the colour boosted GOUT as PiP in the upper left corner for reference. I'd like the testers to check the following:
A) Any shots I may have overlooked for despecialization (I'm looking at you 005 ;-) ).
B) Sync with the GOUT.
C) Colours (both in relation to the GOUT and in terms of colour consistency between shots).
So if you'd like to help me out and be a tester, please say so here (please don't PM me, my mailbox keeps getting full :-) )
I already noticed some stuff and fixed it, namely: The Wampa cave scene being too purple and having forgotten to remove the last window in the Cloud City, so if you notice something else, please let me know. I'm now uploading it, so I should be able to send links in the evening.

Han D. SoloThanks for the patience DJ. It's weird, MU usually works the best for me.
I took a look at your new sample and to me it looks exactly the same as the last one (i.e. awesome) and I can't wait for it's release and definitely will be waiting for that to use for my projects, not the V3 DVD)
