Obviously you can tell that it's not HD, but it looks much better in context than it did as a still image. Looks about as good as we're gonna get. Thanks for all the work, Harmy!

Han D. SoloSee, I told you guys it looked better in movement and context :-)
Oh, and you may have noticed that I'm calling it a v2.0 now. I wanted to call it v1.2 because I thought I'd just fix a few glitches that people reported but it turned into so much more that it definitely warrants the 2.0 tag. Just take the fact that we're even having these debates here :-)

Han D. SoloI still think the new one looks better - there is some SD applied edge enhancement on the GOUT Falcon, which when upscaled to HD makes it look blurry and old video-like - it's like all the lines are thicker and more visible than on the 35mm scan but also blurrier. Look at the cockpit struts for example - they are solid but they have like a blurry outline - and all lines in the GOUT version have that, only it's most visible on the cockpit because of the dark background.
Also, in v1.0 there's the whole hanger door and the top and bottom edges left from the SE, which is fixed in v2.0.

I am sorry Harmy, but I do not agree with your opinion that the 35mm image you are using is sharper than the GOUT, There is loss of detail across the entire ship which is glaringly obvious, also all tone is lost as the contrast has crushed all the blacks, look at the interior of the cockpit.
The DS window frame at top & bottom of the image was not what I was trying to Showcase, it was the MF and it's general look in the shot in contrast with the surrounding characters etc.

Han D. SoloWell, I don't know, I just think that the new one blends better. And sharpening the GOUT brought out a lot of nasty video artefacts. And I don't see any loss of detail in the cockpit interior at all. Actually, I don't see any detail being lost in any of the dark areas.
Anyway, here you go, taken straight from the comparison picture you posted:
TOP: v2.0 (Falcon sourced from 35mm)
Bottom: v1.0 (Falcon sourced from GOUT - adjusted by Jatea)

Yes, the areas you have highlighted do look as they have slightly more detail.....dunno, each to their own.

Han D. SoloI agree that the cockpit looks sharper there but that's simply because of additional sharpening and at this size you can clearly see those nasty sharpening artefacts sticking their heads out.

Given the Freddie Mercury avatar, I don't know what to think.
Also, I don't remember the last time anyone asked that question, although maybe I asked it recently. If so, I forgot.
Also, if he's putting in things like subtitle jitter, it's not that outlandish.

Ha ha, I actually study English and am doing an extra year because I was missing a few credits, so I have like four subjects, half of which I don't have to go to. My main school thing I have to do is writing my bachelor thesis, which I'm doing about STAR WARS :-)
@005:
Because I don't see much of a reason for redoing that one, I'm actually very happy with it:
