Han D. SoloGreat job! Thank you. I'm probably gonna use that LFL logo, since it's from an actual 1080p scan from a print but if you could do the long time ago logo, that would be nice. None of the attempts I've seen so far really convinced me.

I am ready for the trials! How about this one? (click for the full version)
It's from some thread on OT.com regarding either 35mm or 70mm prints (can't remember exactly). I assume that's where you got the LFL one as well? They were both rather crummy though, so I had to straighten it and fix some uneven letter thicknesses (due to different exposure, I guess).
Although instead of just stills I'd like to do the logos as videos including gate weave, a slight glow and the color changes during the fades as well (like my German ones).

Han D. SoloYeah, actually now that I see them with the credits, they may be too bright - it was really difficult to find the right balance. I could still redo the starfield if Laserswert would be willing to re-render.

This space for rentLaserschwert, the fixed credits look great. Just one last thing - you still didn't remove the hyphen from "See-Threepio". As I pointed out before, it's "See Threepio" in the original.
Everything else looks on the nose, right down to the "producers wish to thank" notice being too far over to the right. :)

A légpárnás hajóm tele van angolnákkal.I noticed that apostrophes in the new credits (e.g. Dan O'Bannon) are "straight down" rather than "curled". It's hard to tell from the GOUT, but I believe the originals were curled (at least they blur a lot like the commas, which are curled). I think the "straight down" apostrophe was a computer convention created after these credits would have been done. Then again, I could be wrong.
EDIT: The same probably applies to quote marks, which I didn't check for.

This space for rentCatBus, you're right. With all the analysis I did, even I didn't notice that. *facepalm*
Quotation marks are already the correct curlicues - I was the one who noticed that the leading quote marks in John "D" needed to be rotated 180 degrees.

This space for rentOh, yet another thing I noticed. In the Dolby logo, the font you used for "Making Films Sound Better" / "Noise Reduction - High Fidelity" is incorrect. It's actually ITC Avant Garde Gothic Standard Demi Bold - I can tell because the legs of the M in the original are standing straight up, while the font you used (Century Gothic?) has them diagonal.
The font in the MPAA logo is also inaccurate, but I can't figure out what the actual font is...

Jedi of the Mosaic FaithI just saw the new logos, as well as Laserschwert's work. Simply phenomenal stuff; though letters kind of blocky when blown up to 1080p fullscreen for credits, this isn't in practice something I'm worried about at all. The credits was one thing that really sort of irked me about our current preservations (dj/harmy/mattman)so I'm glad that someone decided to take an interest in it at the end, and that others are being truly anal-retentive about it (comma's convo above). Meanwhile, the beginning logos look *amazing*. Ain't it grand? At this point I'm not sure why we're not calling this a 2.0 considering just how much more work has gone into it...

I hope Laserschwert doesn't mind this, but I went ahead and (roughly) synched-up the end credit music to his awesome titles just to take a look and listen.

I am ready for the trials! All right then, I'll re-work them once more, trying to fix any errors that are still there... hyphens, quotation marks and the new starfield. And while we're at "See Threepio", isn't the "O" in "C3PO" supposed to be a "0" (zero)? I've copy/pasted the credits from that BlueHarvest-site I've linked to above, and it already had a lot of typos, so this might be one of the more difficult to tell ones.
In case you didn't notice, I've added a slight twinkle to the starfield... is that working? Or ist it too much? The original starfields twinkled slightly because of exposure differences, I think...
As for the fonts, yeah, I've used Century Gothic for the Dolby logo's texts, so thanks for the correct one, I'll change it :-) Also I guess I'll just rebuild the "DOLBY SYSTEM" line with something like Eurostile, as I just took a Google image for that. Regarding the MPAA-font... no idea... it's way too small to tell. I think I'll try a font that's closer to this:

Han D. SoloSounds great Laserschwert. Only to be honest, I did notice the "twinkling" and didn't like it much - I'd rather add a tad more gate weave. But then, it could work better with the new starfield, since it's less bright, so it may not bring out the ugly irregular halos around the bigger stars.
And also adding quite a large amount of grain to the whole picture (you can choose blending mode "ADD" it adds the grain evenly, so it's in the brighter parts as well) would make it look more authentic IMO.

Yes! The pic mverta posted recently to SWLegacy will hopefully lead to more, as he will attempt to contact his sources for more info on how the credits were created. Speculation is that the credits were done on glass and the drop shadow was a byproduct of that system. Haven't seen them yet but mverta noted that the drop shadow was not consistent over the whole frame. Which could mean it was done internally with a light source which was close enough to shift the drop shadow, to what degree, don't know. [but as they've done the open crawl outside, maybe the credits were done that way too, don't know]
other full credit pics are available here: http://fd.noneinc.com/Credits/ but most are in the thread doubleofive mentioned.
Laserschwert's version looks great. The copyright symbol at the end looks little big and I wonder if the 'c' is actually on the same line as the rest of the text, so the circle dips a little. But things look spot on, sucks our sources are less informative.

Chief Architect of Cynical MoralityI love how this thread read to me last night.
"Look at the credits! Someone should recreate them!"
"Who cares about the credits?"
*a few minutes later*
"I already recreated the credits."
"LET'S DO THIS!"
Just thought it was funny how fast things come together sometimes.

Laserschwert, when this recreation comes to a conclusion, would like to read more about your font size choices and things related to these credit recreations. They're welcomed in the credits thread, as someone else will possibly build upon what's you've accomplished.
