Can anyone let me know if a CERTIFICATE folder is necessary in order to properly burn the AVCHDs? The directions at afterdawn.com say at the top it is necessary but the downloads didn't have that folder included. Thanks.

Ointment FlyI just finished watching, Harmy, and I have good and bad news.
The good news is I loved it. Finally, Star Wars as it used to be, and in fantastic quality! Perhaps someday we'll get a proper Blu-ray release, but until then I'll be plenty satisfied watching your version. Well done :-)
The bad news is that my three-year-old daughter kept asking "is it over yet?" She wanted to watch The Sound of Music again instead. Oh well, there's still lots of time to set her straight ;-)
Thanks man.

it was one of the first to come up on Google. But there was a lot good said as well :-) Is anyone a member there? I've been trying to log in but so far no dice.
I'm actually the one who made that thread over at neogaf.
There was a lot of talk going on in the Star Wars blu ray thread over there, and people started bringing your Despecialized editions up. So I decided to start a thread, and I'm happy to see all the postive feedback over there.
I've even started seeing posts like "I'll stick with Harmy's despecialized editions until George decides to release a non tainted version of the films" and "Harmy's editions are my definitive versions" being posted in the blu ray thread.

Yeah I believe the certificate folder is necessary, even if nothing is in it. It just has to see that the folder is there. I am pretty sure the certificate should have been there when the rar files extracted. Be sure they extracted properly out of Jdownloader.

Han D. SoloI'd like to say this at the neoGAF forum:
Hello there. I'm happy to see that people outside of the OT.com forum are enjoying my edits :-)
Now, I know they're not quite as good a quality as the Blu-Rays but I think they definitely don't look bad compared to them (in reaction to this post: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=30857446&postcount=189 ):
"I like what he's doing but the quality still looks bad compared to this:"

Here's the same shot from DeEd upscaled to the same resolution for comparison:

There is of course more compression (which in this case is more prominent and noticeable in a still picture) but in terms of detail, there isn't really much of a difference, so I'd agree that it looks less good than the BD but I wouldn't say it looks bad compared to it.
And if a different picture was chosen, like those in post 240, there would probably be almost no difference at all (except that mine would have better colour ;-D ).
Also Ady's purist edit should be pointed out to those who complain about the music additions and stuff.

Harmy,
You know the process 1000x better than I do. How hard would it be to Despecialize the Blu Ray versions? Would it be too terribly jarring to use those as the base and splice in shots from other sources to fill in the most egregious Lucas changes?
Harmy

Han D. SoloWell, it would be even more noticeable for sure. That's one of the reasons why I decided against using the Blu-Rays.

Neogaf is unlike your every day message board. You don't get instant admission when you register. New members gain access in waves. It might be a few months before you could post... but it's worth it, especially if you're into video games. Probably the most professional, clean and well modded forum on the internets.
Until you get in there, I'll definitely post that reply for you =)

Hi guys, could you please check this? I watched ANH and found two glitches in SW720pAVCHD 00000.m2ts
01:29:01
Chewbacca running
01:54:06
Millenium Falcon
At these 2 points there are 2 slight jumps. Like it is missing frames. It's right in the middle of the scenes. Have you seen this? It's very subtle. You have to pay close attention. It's like missing one frame only.

Yes you are right. I just checked it. I didn't notice that before. There are some black boxs in his hair when he removes his helmet.
Arnie, are you confirming those 2 glitches I mentioned? Those 2 little jumps?

So Harmy, you are saying that you too see these 3 glitches in your project?
It would be great if you could correct these glitches if you release a future version because your work is the most important of the fan preservations to this date and it would be great to have a glitch free version for the preservation.

Could someone please run these through IMANDIX for me (or something similar - you know a program that puts them into boxes automatically). Ideally with the forum colour background.

Yes it is indeed possible with a program like TSMuxer. It's pretty user friendly. You can make 2 discs and input the start/end time of each.
It is also possible to use a program like BDtoAVCHD to shrink it all to one DVD-5 with relatively good results. It does take awhile though.

Wow. Thanks so much.
I'm going to try and use the BDtoAVCHD program to shrink it to DVD-5 and I'll let you know how it goes.
Hoping the quality of the picture/sound stays close to the same.
thanks again.
