Here's a sampler of the intro to Star Wars (Harmy 2.1) with scroll text in Spanish, as seen in Latin America in 1977. still work to do ... but it's a start. I think I can finally have STAR WARS as I saw as a child thanks to Harmy ... May the force be with you with version 2.5!!

I hope you're still planning to release those dubs!
Only, if you release something he needs.
Whoops, I just realized it's that prick again. Don't know, why I tried to help him out... must've been a reflex.

Wait. It's that guy who wanted something in return for Star Wars stills? Or something like that?

A légpárnás hajóm tele van angolnákkal.FWIW, roback214 gave me American Spanish subtitles in exchange for nothing, and I have seen no indication through our PM conversations he's expecting anything in return for the American Spanish dubs. Let's avoid pre-judging this one, alright? I'd hate to poison this so-far productive well based on some old grudge.

I am the of the stills ..
And I think it was a misunderstanding, I I have hundreds of photographs of the ILM (not from WEB) and private archives of known people who worked on STAR WARS, the forum member I offered him the pictures and just wanted to show me one small example of what I had, and I want to continue to increase my collection. Apparently he upset about this.
Another forum member very friendly and showed me some of his photographs and even perhaps have all their goodwill gesture coarse to send me photos in high resolution. (And today and tomorrow I will send many ...).
And also gave him another good material to other forum members ... I have a lot of material to share, but first you have to talk and befriend ....
My intention is not to make this a controversy, just give an alternative explanation of the facts ...
PS: Just read your post Catbus Thanks for your words ..... I send the link of the promised ....

This, I think, is where there's a difference in culture. Why is sharing contingent on friendship?

I am ready for the trials! And that's why I have a problem with him. Joining a collaborative community like ours comes with some adaption in behaviour. To me the OT.com community has always been about sharing and helping each other out. If I have something that can make someone else's project better, I'm happy to help out. And as far as I can tell that's pretty much how this whole community works. Need a missing audio track off a release that's not seeded anymore? Someone uploads it! Need something scanned? Done! My impression was, that this is something that's natural for projects like this.
Why do you need to increase your collection before you can help someone out? I don't really see the connection here...

It's not unheard of here. Sometimes there's a guy here who offers great stuff for free, sometimes with strings attached, and sometimes he talks about having great stuff and won't share with anyone (mverta).
He has his reasons for acting this way--some people think they're good enough and others don't.
Frankly, I'm a pragmatist about it. I take what I can get now and don't burn bridges in case more comes along later. I'm not saying everyone needs to approve of the choices of our more reticent users like mverta and roback214, but it can only help us in the long term if they get a good impression of our community--because apparently, they both do in fact have the goods.

Indeed. Frink has no problems in that department.
Anyway....
Harmy, are you saying that we won't even be getting that cool animated menu you showed a sample of? I was looking forward to that. Whatever you decide, I'll help share 2.5 regardless.
Star Wars is the only case in modern film history where the preservation of the original award-winning version has been left up to the fans. That fact alone proves that Lucas is insane.

Han D. SoloNo, I'm not saying that - I will definitely try to make it work, that's why I said that the design is not the problem but making the menu actually work is.

GOUT suffererHarmy, I've begun asking around with some people I talk to at another site that do a lot of Blu-ray reauthoring (to add extra subtitles and/or audio tracks, etc.), to see what they have to say about the process. I haven't heard much about what this one guy in particular uses (though I think it is mostly Scenarist), but his main bit of advise/caution was that you should be mindful of not going past the max bitrate, which includes all video, audio and subtitle stream bitrates at any given time. So, the amount of audio tracks you want shouldn't be a problem, as long as there isn't too much data (even if just a spike) to stay within BD specs. What I take from that is maybe we can't have more than just a few lossless tracks, or we could start running into bitrate issues... I'll let you know if I hear more. Also, do you have any questions you'd like me to pass along?

Reginald ScumWith the audio tracks at 16 bit (which compresses more efficiently than 24), and the video at 720p rather than 1080, that may not be an issue, but it's always good to keep in mind. In any event the main soundtracks are the most important for lossless audio, and high bitrate lossy would suffice for the rest if there are any problems.
I have obtained the GOUT-synched '85 mix and created a new file matching its level to the other tracks, so there's now a complete set. I want to start uploading them all tomorrow if I can. I guess I'll use DTS-HD MA since Harmy doesn't know what he'll be creating the Bluray with, and it seems to be easier to author with this format. Hopefully my connection is up to the task . . .

Han D. SoloThat's awesome news, hairy_hen! DTS-HD will probably be better, even for the BD, if I'm making it in multi AVCHD.
And I agree, with the bitrate of the 720p video being much lower that what is usual for 1080p BDs, I doubt we would go past the BD format's max bitrate.

What are the diferences between v2.1 and v2.5?
CatBus

A légpárnás hajóm tele van angolnákkal....and I'd recommend a minimal core for the DTS-MA tracks. With larger cores, the files (and bitrates) can get pretty huge, and most people won't be listening to the lossy core anyway (IMO the lossy core at its minimal levels still sounds comparable to your typical Dolby AC3 track).
