Just wanted to pop in and give a big thank you to Harmy and everyone else involved in making this project. Such an awesome idea and I whole-heartedly support it. Can't wait till the other two movies come out in 2.x versions.

First of all, thanks to Harmy and all the people involved in this. It's great to see people so involved and interested in preserving the original films like this.
I just got a question. I want to see Star Wars with my girlfriend and i want to show her the original movies, not the SE crap. I already have the 1.0 versions of the 3 films, but i want to know if the change to 2.x is huge or not, so i can wait till the 3 films have the 2.x version. I dont want to wait too long because i really want to see this movies (i havent seen the original unaltered trilogy since the 80s). I'll be watching them in a 50' HD plasma TV, if that info can help.
So, in short, the changes from v1.0 to v2.x are huge enough to wait until the 3 films are finished?
Thanks in advance. :)

A légpárnás hajóm tele van angolnákkal.2.x is a huge improvement (along with more thorough despecialization, there's greatly improved theatrical color fidelity and much less compression). And that's just on the video side.
Whether you can wait or not is up to you. If you wait for the whole trilogy to reach 2.x, you'll be waiting a long time.
EDIT: If it helps you decide, watching 1.x merely makes you feel like you're watching something better than the best official home video version of Star Wars ever made. Watching 2.x makes you feel like you're in the theatre on opening day in 1977. It's that good.

Han D. SoloYeah, I'd say download v2.1 of SW (or wait for 2.5, which should be out soon but it will only be a pretty small improvement over v2.1 - mostly things you'll never notice if you've not seen the original since the 80s) and watch v1.0 of ESB and ROTJ, because v2.0s are still quite a long way away for those two and the v1.0s are finished products, it's not like they're some half arsed attempts - it's only that v2.0s will be even better - I'd say that for ESB and ROTJ downloading the v2.0 will be kind of like buying the remastered BD of Casablanca - the first release was perfectly ok and adequate, but the remastered is even better.

Nice analogy with Casablanca.
The 2.1 is 100% worth it. Without question. The 1.0's of ESB and ROTJ are also still quite nice. Will be excellent to view on a TV of that size. When I had my 50" LCD hooked up, they looked excellent. Still need to sit down and make it through all 3 with my gf, lol. Not sure she's seen the originals, and we need to remedy that... Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I think i will go with 2.1, 1.0 and 1.0 because I can't wait to see the 3 films, but i'm sure that i will watch them again once the 3 films are in 2.x state.
Just one last question, where can i get spanish subtitles for this 3 movies?

HarmyNews CoordinatorOk, folks. We have a 'Harmy' newsletter you can subscribe to if you want to know the latest updates about the DeSpecialized Editions without subscribing to all of the threads and hoping against 'a new hope' that the next update will contain release info or something awesome. This will be a monthly newsletter so we won't be spamming anyone.
Be warned that if something happens in the middle of the month, you will not be notified until the 1st of the following month - which is fine for most, but just wanted to make that clear.
Once you sign up, be sure to check your SPAM or PROMOTIONS folder and let your mail client know that it is not junk. A link has also been added to the initial post of this thread (and will be added to the others later.)

What do you have - an m2ts file from the 'STREAM' folder of the blu-ray version? You can easily convert those with a free program with just a little googling.
For example: http://download.cnet.com/M2TS-to-AVI-MP4-DVD-Converter/3000-2194_4-10898518.html

Yeah, the newsletter wasn't meant for everyone - trust me. But neither are the forums if you think about it. Some people are better suited to social interaction than others.
Plus, hopefully, it'll cut down (not extinguish) a lot of questions from new people about where to get it, what version is out, how close are the others, etc. Once the newsletter gets sent out on the 1st, I'll post in here with a screenshot, link, whatever - so that everyone gets a chance to see it. That'll also help people find it that pop into the thread and don't read the first page, as so many of them do at times.

What's the current word on the Bluray audio commentary?

It's like it's quite possible that Picasso would have loved to use Photoshop for some of his paintings if it was available back then, but if you take a picture from Picasso and recreate it in Photoshop, it's not going to be the same picture and it can hardly be used to demonstrate Picasso's brush techniques.

Say what you will about quality, but I for one am still raring to overwrite my old official full screen VHS copies of the Original Trilogy with this widescreen goodness!
