Han D. SoloYeah, probably - I checked and even the AVCHD looks miles better. :-)
It's an interesting observation anyway. It is the kind of film, where you can always find something new when you watch it :-)

Ya, I compressed & shrunk the image; I was only trying to show the pilot's eye, not preserve the quality of your encode. Trust me, it looked much better on my screen!

Hello everyone.
I'm new here and also really thankful for the work Harmy and everybody has done to make this project happen and work.
I'm from Germany and the original German track of the MKV file is asynchronous.
There was a fixed file, but it is not availabe at the former area where u could get it. Does any have this file?
Can someone tell me where to get it?

Lost JediIf I were you, I'd wait for v2.5 that Harmy is about to release (it is a matter of days), which will have the corrected tracks and lots of enhancements.

Hi Vali!
You - and anyone else here who wants to share their translated subtitles for the sources documentary - can send me a PM with a download link for your subtitle file. If you're having trouble or don't want to upload it to a file sharing site, just ask me for my email address which you can then use to send it to me as an email attachment.
To the best of my abilities, I'll proofread any subtitles sent to me for technical errors, collaborate with you on any corrections, then upload the .srt file to my Dropbox account and publicly post the link here for everyone.
Of course, you're welcome to share here a public download link for your subtitles as they are now; I'll reupload them either way. ;)
Thanks!

Lost JediHanDuet, do you see any problems with my French subs? I checked them a few times before sending you them, but it seems the new version of VLC has problems playing them. I don't have any issue in other players, just VLC (Tested on my Mac's OS X 10.8.4 and on my dad's Windows 8 laptop).

johnlocke2342 - I remember mentioning there seemed to be some weird spacing glitches with your French .srt subtitles, but they'd seemed to be working. I'll double check it and see if I can't fix it. I'll PM you and/or post an update here with what I find out.

GREAT job (and BIG thanks to all those that contributed)!
A while back I had offered to re-compile the orig video with the combined subs (once we got at least English, French, and Spanish)…but in light of the imminent v2.5 release within the next couple/few weeks, it makes more sense to me to just leave this one to Harmy to incorporate as he will on the v2.5 Blu-ray.
If anyone is chompin at the bit for this in a quicker timeline (…or, perhaps you're only planning to DL the standalone .mkv release of v2.5), let me know. I'm glad to compile and UL, the only question for me is: Would doing so (in addition to Harmy's v2.5 Blu-ray release) be desired?
In any case, thank again to all involve with this little project! I absolutely love the GREAT collaborative spirit exemplified in this and other projects found here in this forum! :D
UPDATE:
Well, all that being said…I decided to deprive myself of some sleep and fiddle around with this anyway. After sorting-out some issues with charset values in mkvmerge, I arrived at the following neat, tidy, labeled bundle which incorporates ALL of HanDuet's August 10, 2013 updated subs (available individually HERE, just above this post).
IF you would like to have a look, here are a few links for Harmy's "Sources" Documentary at FULL RESOLUTION with the above muxed subtitles:

This is my first post here.
I just registered to thank everyone involved (especially Harmy and hairy_hen) for making all of this happen and for all the effort and hard work they put into this.
I already watched Star Wars and Empire and I am amazed by the results. Can't thank you enough, Harmy! After Lucas' statements, I never thought I'd be able to watch the original Star Wars version in this quality. Thanks for sharing this project with us!
I really can't wait for SW DEED 2.5 with improved picture and sound quality and since I'm an audio guy, I especially look forward to hairy_hen's improved 5.1 track in lossless quality.
I love the short sources documentary Harmy put together and would love to see something like that from hairy_hen some time in the future.
@HanDuet: I'm from Germany and checked the German subtitles for the documentary. I corrected some mistakes I found and will send you a link with my updated version. It's nowhere near perfect, but hopefully an improvement.

VLC on Mac refuses to play subs with m2ts filetypes. It's apparently been a known issue for years but never fixed. You need to use MplayerX to get them to work.

Lost JediYeah, they play nicely with MplayerX, but I swear that when I tested them with VLC, they played nicely too. As if the previous version didn't have this bug. The same issue happened with my dad's Windows 8 PC, still with VLC. Strange...

Thanks for your hard work! I must say, I was almost disappointed to have someone contact me with corrections to some of the subtitles after seeing all you went through the bundle all the previous version together, but that's just the way things go. It's up to you if you want to create a new version of your bundle with the new German subtitles, but we may want to wait a little while to see if additional changes will be made. Either way, I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your contribution!
Actually, there is at least one thing you (or anyone else here) could do right now to help with the Sources Doc subtitles. When deho sent me the updated German subtitles, he also mentioned the following:
deho said:
By the way, I've muxed [the subtitles] with mkvmerge and the resulting mkv played just fine and the subtitles were ok. Then I tried to mux it with tsmuxer, to create a Blu-ray folder structure, but vlc wouldn't display the subtitles correctly, no matter which edit I use. Are you aware of this problem?
Is that an issue someone here could look into? Thanks everyone!

IF the subtitles are in BD-SUP format (pre-rendered graphics, not text), AND the problem he saw was that the subtitles flashed by for a single frame and then disappeared, then yes I've seen this problem. The solution is easy--just import and re-export the BD-SUP file in BDSupEdit. Whatever software originally created the BD-SUP files created buggy (but not atypical) output.
If the above doesn't exactly describe the problem, more info is most certainly needed.

-> http://www.gigasize.com/get/coq5om5l8ob
I used mkvmerge to assemble the above muxed version and briefly tested EACH track using VLC 2.0.7 in MacOS 10.6.8…and everything appears to work A OK to me (but, I only speak English and bad English, so I would welcome and appreciate any additional verification provided).
Enjoy!
-A.S.
p.s.
@angryboy & johnlocke2342: The original "Sources" Documentary (and my recently ULed muxed versions with HanDuet's updated subs) comes in a .mkv format and NOT a m2ts filetype. While I am not a French speaker, the latest French edit 3 version appears to playback just fine as either a .mkv with the external .srt file AND in my muxed shares using VLC 2.0.7 under MacOS 10.6.8 ("Snow Leopard").

The subtitles are in srt format, but the flashing is exactly what I've experienced. Another problem is, that while the length of the lines is ok in the mkv muxed with mkvmerge, the lines are too long in the m2ts file. I guess mkvmerge auto resizes the subtitles to fit the screen, while tsmuxer doesn't. I don't have much experience with subtitles, but I'll try to find a solution.

I was surprised too, when I tested the German subtitles yesterday. That's why I corrected the worst mistakes and uploaded a new version (edit4). Did you check that one, or the former edit3? Even edit4 is still far from perfect though. Maybe the better approach is to start from scratch and not trying to correct the weird sentences from edit3...

Actually the muxer (tsmuxer or mkvmerge) just converts the SRT files into a BD-SUP file on-the-fly and you never see it, so the muxer is the software creating a bad BD-SUP file. No problem though--you can just demux the results to get the actual BD-SUP file it created. Then import/export the file in BDSupEdit, and then remux the whole thing again, only this time mux your fixed BD-SUP file instead of the SRT file.
Er, I think... ;)

HarmyNews CoordinatorHi everyone - new guy here. :P
I can't remember where I found my first copy of Harmy's versions. I just know that I ran across Ep 4 somewhere and downloaded it out of curiousity.
I'm not one for "fan edits", especially the ones where people are re-arranging and cutting things out that they don't like, but I appreciate their stances and the time they put into them. But I read in the description that this was 'restoring' the original trilogy and I really wanted to see that...so once I watched the first one, in awe, I grabbed the other two.
I have shown these to several people over the years that were Star Wars fans and they've just loved them - and we're talking the 1.0 versions here. I was excited to find this site/thread of a newer version coming out soon and can't wait to see all of the improvements.
Thanks for all the hard work everyone is putting into it!
Quick question: Is the 2.5 version that is forthcoming only for Episode 4? If so, will the other two get the same treatment?
