riddler95, not keeping in the needless "Morning Report" song, is far from enough to make it a proper Original Theatrical Version.  Going back and changing things, even if it is to make it align with an "original vision" (which actually almost makes this post be on topic) is the kind of revisionist history that has gathered us all to this site.  They changed color timing, they noticeably reanimated sequences (originally done for IMAX rerelease, and then put into all home video releases, excluding the original VHS release), and while I can't see them keeping it as it originally was and is the only place I could give them a pass on Original Theatrical adherence, if it was done well: the SEX/SFX dust snafu has been awkwardly cut out of the movie, rather than tastefully touched up (really a terribly botched editing job, do they not employ animators and artists at Disney?).  So, I feel that The Lion King remains a good example of Disney's questionable commitment to Original Theatrical preservation.  Don't get me wrong, I don't find it unwatchable like I do George's updated OT, but I won't drink the kool-aid that it is the original experience, either.

I tried to make MKV of v2.1 and I think I did it pretty well, but the video is moved a few frames forward. Durations of the MKV and the original are the same, so it's like 4-5 in the whole movie missing, enough to get me annoyed and thinking that audio is out of sync now. Same thing happens when using TSmuxer. Do any of you know how to fix it?

It makes me think of an incompatibility between PAL and NTSC. Are you European and trying to add a foreign track from the GOUT?

If not, you could try adjusting the number of frames per second in a program like mkvmerge GUI (aka mkvtoolnix).

I'm not an expert, but that's what I'd think of.

Yeah, I'm Polish. I'm trying to make an MKV mainly to add subtitles in my language, but even when I'm using TSMuxer and leaving everything at default, those frames are lost/moved/whatever. I tried changing fps, but that made things even worse. o.O I'm clueless.

Is your subtitle file timed for a PAL source?  Also, have you tried remuxing just the original files without adding your Polish subtitle file, to see if it still produces the timing issue?

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED v2.1 AVCHD is now out!!!

Yes, I tried, the issue is still present. Also, it's a subtitle from project threepio, so it should work fine. :/

Are both the audio and video from Harmy's original?  If not, where's the audio from?

Does the original 2.1 download play okay?  Maybe it's corrupt somehow?

Sorry, I'm pretty useless at troubleshooting this sort of thing.

Everything is from Harmy's 2.1, except those subs. Original version plays with no problems.Maybe I'll try redownloading, but I don't think that's the issue.

Actually, since you're trying to make an mkv (rather than a DVD or something else one would expect to be used with a standalone player), have you considered just configuring your software player to use external subtitles?

If you demux and remux just video and audio using tsmuxerGUI and the result syncs just as good as the original, then I think the problem is the mkv creation tool or configuration.  You could post in the technical how-to forum for advice.

Hi !

First of all, thank you for this amazing job ! I had the DVD's, and they were already bad, but the BR's just killed everything.

I asked CatBus for his subtitles pack, and he told me to ask here for an invite on MySpleen, so here I am, asking ^^

EDIT : I'm on MySpleen now, thank you guy's for your reactivity and kindness !

Like I said, when I use TSmuxer I get out of sync video stream as well. I'll probably have to post on some technical forum, but I've never had a similar issue and even after trying to google it I got nothing, so I thought the issue is related only to this movie.

@yoda-sama - I can use external subtitles in Media Player Classic, but my TV doesnt have such advanced features. I could just forget the subs and watch it in english, but my DVD player is broken, so burning the movie to disc from the iso isn't really an option. :/

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED v2.1 AVCHD is now out!!!

So a quick question here...Do I need to select what audio track I want BEFORE burning to the DVD? If so, how? Not exactly sure how all that works.  If not, I guess the audio track is selected in the DVD menu, right?

Also, do I need to take any special step in the burning process to make this work in DVD players instead of Blu-Ray players?

And lastly, I know usually ETAs aren't supposed to be asked, but does anyone have any idea of when the next version will be released? You see, I don't wanna burn 2.1 to my expensive DL DVDs if 2.5 is about to come out.

Any help is appreciated. Please help me only have to use one of my 2 dollar discs! :P

Can't wait to watch this in 720p on my new DVD player and LED TV :)

Harmy's Despecialized Editions are AVCHD discs, which can't be played in a standard DVD player. You'll need either a Blu-ray player for playing on a TV, or a standard DVD-DL reader and a software like VLC to play them on a computer. See, AVCHDs are, by their structure, Blu-rays that hold on a DL-DVD, that's why a standard DVD player can't read them.

If you want to select the language, you'll have to press the "Language" button on your remote until you find it (as there's no menus, except on the 2.5 Blu-ray Harmy is about to release), but you'll have to add it first in Mkvmerge (aka Mkvtoolnix) and mux it to an AVCHD disc with TSMuxer.

Hope it helps.

Oh...I see.  Well, that's unfortunate for me, since I don't have a Blu-Ray player.  In that case I definitely won't burn anything just yet.  Is there any way I would be able to burn it to my DVD DL and convert it so that it can play in my DVD player?  Perhaps I can download the 2.0 MKV and convert it to MPEG2 or something to play in my DVD player.  However, I want 2.1 because it has more updates and quality improvements.

Can I get this to play on a DVD player in any way?

This is depressing lol.

Of course, just grab MKVtoolnix and convert the 2.1 version, then burn it to disc, all modern DVD players should be able to play MKV file. I ran into some problems with it, but that doesn't mean you will.

Is there anyone specific I should ask to get a MySpleen account from? Just trying to get a torrent of these! Thanks!

Unless you have a Sony player, they apparently have problems reading MKVs. My Sony Blu-ray player can't read them, while I have no problem with my mom's LG. If yours can't read MKVs, grab Handbrake, drag and drop Harmy's DeEd and convert to mp4. It should work in my experience.

It's "Header Removal Compression" they don't like, right?  That's a checkbox option in MMG that can be turned off.

RE: Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD !!!REMASTERED v2.1 AVCHD is now out!!!

I see...Does converting it to any of these DVD compatible files hinder quality?  I obviously want to convert to whatever DVD compatible file that preserves the most quality.  Seems like Mpeg2 would be the best choice, since practically every DVD player is made to support that.  Do you guys think I can and should convert the avchd .iso to an mpeg2 and then burn it to the dvd?

EDIT: well, maybe not.  It seems people are saying that .mp4 will preserve the most quality...This one guy said just import the .iso into a DVD burning program and just have it convert it to a DVD format from there.  What do you guys think?  Sorry for my ignorance in this topic.  I've actually never burned any movies to a DVD before, so I've really got no idea what I'm doing.

I assume I need to convert the .iso that I extracted from the 41 .rar files, correct?

Thanks for the help so far guys.  Still can't wait to watch this :)  I just hope that I don't mess up in any way and only have to use one DVD :)

If English is your native language and/or you plan to watch Star Wars ONLY in that language, just grab Chewtobacca's DVD 5 of the DeEd. I don't think you can get better than DVD quality with a DVD player.

As I said, you can also watch it on your computer if you have an HD monitor with VLC.

Indeed.  I am American, and obviously we Americans mostly only know English :P  However, my DVD player DOES support 720p, so I definitely could get better quality than Chewtobacca's standard definition conversion.  There are many guides online on  how to convert AVCHD to DVD, such as this one http://www.wondershare.com/dvd-burner/convert-avchd-to-dvd.html.  I'm not sure if they apply to this scenario though.

If you still think I should go with Chewtobacca's conversion, I suppose I will.  But I must ask, where can I find Chewtobacca's SD version?  I've searched and cannot seem to find a download link anywhere.

Thank you for all your help so far!!
