Thanks Harmy and yoda-sama for the feedback.
Quality is important to us all here, so I've re-uploaded the Sources Documentary video to YouTube using the original .mkv. I think YouTube's re-encoding still resulted in the same loss of quality, but the bitrate appears to be slightly improved.
The video is now live on YouTube at the following link:
I also took the opportunity to improve information provided to those viewing the video on YouTube, such as annotations and a clear description explaining that Harmy made Star Wars DE, not me (an unfortunate confusion as a result of me uploading your documentary). Gotta make sure credit is redirected to where credit is due!
Harmy, as someone who I imagine judges the quality of individual pixels in his sleep, you probably will still be understandably dissatisfied with the quality of the video on YouTube. Still, judging from the views a comments on the first uploaded version of this video, I think there's an audience out there who will first learn about this project by viewing it on a widely-used site like YouTube, so this is at least a good way to introduce interested fans.
When I find the time, I plan to add English subtitles using YouTube's closed captioning. If anyone's interested in translating the dialog into another language, let me know (send me a PM)! Adding subtitles for multiple languages would allow this video to be enjoyed by a larger audience.

Han D. SoloThank you. Yes, the quality isn't really much improved but that was to be expected, really, so no worries. And you're right, it will still serve its purpose nicely :-)
As to adding subtitles - it would be good to have subtitles in different languages for it for the BD as well, so if you guys do make subs for this, it would be great, if you could send them to me :-)

There are Catbus' Project Threepio. I added them all to the 2.0 mkv with mkvtoolnix.

Joliet JakeI'm currently dubbing the documentary, but if you need subtitles as well, let me know.
... And they had 'The Empire Strikes Back', the fifth of the four Star Wars films. He is fucking with us numerically, isn't he! "Children, count up to ten." "Four, five, six, one, two, three, ten". No, it goes, four, five, six, one, two, three… No, it goes: four, five, six. One... Two and three have not been made." "Two and three have not been made! What should they be?" "What should they be? We do not know. All we know is that there will be a big floppy character in it that goes, squawk squawk squawk... who needs a punch up the bracket!"

GOUT suffererSo, if you're open to accepting subtitles, does that mean what you showed us is the full documentary rather than a teaser? Either way, it was enjoyable, though more is always better.

GOUT suffererProbably, I just must have missed it. The important thing anyway is the 2.5 feature quality, everything else is just gravy.

Oh my God! And I was saying that just after considering doing the French subs for the documentary myself. Dafuq, brain? :p
Sorry, I have personal problems, and as I have no activity planned until at least september, I might try doing the subs for the French-speaking audience.
But as Yoda says, "Do, or do not, there is no try". I just have to find a Mac program, as the last time I did this I was still using Windows.

Haha.
I already subbed the first 3 minutes, I just have a problem with some technical vocabulary such as "crushed blacks" or "color correction", but a Google search put me on the right track I guess.

GOUT suffererI believe the first one can use whatever the translation is for "slavery", and the second you can use French equivalents for "equality", "emancipation" or "15th amendment". Or am I on the wrong page?

Padawan LearnerI really enjoyed the documentary! The whole thing looked very professional!
Seeing the examples of the color correction side by side in motion was quite a shock as I've only seen small stills before. I have not yet watched either 1.0 or 2.1 as I've kept holding out for 2.5. So seeing it in motion was a very nice experience.
I was also really amazed how good the clips from Project Blu looked!
Great job everyone!

A transcript of the documentary in English is available here, which might be helpful to those of you creating foreign language dubs and subtitles.

Well, I know mine's not perfect, especially for the technical vocabulary, but I think I found good ways to translate them. I'm sending you mine if you want.

that guyharmy, are the hdtv versions of the 1997 and 2004 version you talk about in your video still available anywhere? and are they just of star wars and not empire and jedi?

Hey Harmy,
Great job with your sources featurette! I really loved seeing how you combined the disparate pieces to make a whole greater than the sum of its parts. The only thing I'd suggest is that you remember to credit one more very important person: you. You mention how one part of the frame was rotoscoped in via a custom mask, etc. but you never tell the audience that you created the mask, or that you worked frame-by-frame to reincorporate it. We all know you did, but you deserve to take a little bow, methinks! =)
Just my two cents. Keep up the great work, as always! =)
